As a college student, my financial situation is, well, less than ideal and during the holidays I feel stretched extra thin. Obviously, if I had the funds, I would buy my loved ones any and everything on their holiday wish lists, but this is not the case, unfortunately.

I feel particularly inadequate in the realm of gift-giving this year because I am in a relationship.

I love my boyfriend and, naturally, I want to get him something that is not only on his wishlist but that also shows how much I care about him, something thoughtful, meaningful, expensive?

I wish I could spend hundreds of dollars lavishing my bf with holiday gifts, but my wallet will not allow that and I know that he doesn't want me to stretch myself thin buying him gifts. I love him for this, neither of us is the materialistic type and this is something we always agree on.

I can't help, however, but to be bothered by the fact I can not spend as much money on him as he can on me. Yes, he receives a salary and I only work part-time while I finish school and, yes, he does not expect me to spend a bunch of money on him, but I really want him to have a gift that shows how much he means to me.

So, I've come up with a few ideas for inexpensive gifts for my significant other that will surely warm his heart without breaking the bank.

Make an “Our Love Story” book

Nothing communicates how much someone means to you than something handmade and sentimental. Take an old journal, make a list of the memories of your relationship and explore Pinterest for some inspiration. You'll, then, have all the tools to create a memorable gift without spending tons of money.

Create a scrapbook

Whether you want to want to showcase photos that showcase your relationship or get a little more creative, even a little more risk-aayy with some pictures that are NSFW, your S.O. is sure to appreciate the time and effort you spent.

A jar of all the things you love

Mason jars are very inexpensive. Once you buy one, just find yourself some colorful construction paper, cut it into note-sized pieces and writes all the reasons you love your S.O. on the pieces. This gift keeps on giving, anytime your BF or GF needs a reminder of how much you love them, all they need to do is pull a slip from their "Love Jar."

Giving gifts can be tricky when you don't have adequate funds to spend. My boyfriend (well, all my loved ones) deserves the world but, unfortunately, I can barely afford a candle. So, until I win the lottery or get a job after college, I hope that my Pinterest-inspired, DIY and sincerely heartfelt gifts will suffice to show them how much they mean to me.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
