5 Simple Homemade Christmas Gifts For Anyone

When you have a list as long as mine, you learn ways to make ends meet.

5 Simple Homemade Christmas Gifts For Anyone

My family is huge and we typically buy for everyone. Lucky for me, I am a broke college student. This means that my name just gets put on the gifts we give people. But I do still have people to buy for: My parents and siblings, my boyfriend, close friends, and the important people in my life. So of course, I get crafty.

1. Scarves

Scarves are always a good idea for gifts and handmade crocheted scarves are even better (which is what I am doing this year for a big portion of my Christmas list). And it's not expensive to do, once you learn how to do it. You just need to get your materials on sale. I buy mine when there are four skeins for $10, rather than $2.99 apiece at A.C. Moore.

2. Jewelry

One of my favorite past times also happens to create the gift that I am giving the females I need to buy for this year (my mom, nana, my boyfriend's mom, etc.). And making jewelry really isn't expensive either, once you get the supplies (you can make them for everyone after buying the products to start). It's also a good way to raise money to buy Christmas gifts, or in my case, to help fund a mission trip in the spring.

3. Hats

Who doesn't love cute, unique, stylish hats? Nobody, that's who. And when you crochet a hat for someone as a gift, you can add their own style to it and make it all about them. Plus, you can use the leftover yarn you have from making scarves. It's a win-win.

4. Blankets

You can honestly never have too many blankets, which leads to my next Christmas gift idea. A good, heavy-weight, crocheted blanket makes for good decoration or to keep you warm. And tie blankets (made from fabric and tying them together) are something you can never go wrong with.

5. Photo Albums

Nothing says that you treasure the memories you have with someone like printing them out and taking the time to put them in a specific order in a photo album. Yes, it is super simple and easy, but every time they look at the pictures, they will be thinking of you and the fun times you had together. Plus, you can decorate the outside of the photo album to add your own flair.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
