Having Fur-babies is this amazingly warm feeling inside because you’re in that stage of life where the idea of kids freaks you out, but some responsibility is doable. You get this tiny puppy, and all of a sudden it changes the way your world works.

You have to wake up earlier, lose sleep through the night, budget your money to afford dog food and vet bills..

Your life significantly changes, and at first you go back and forth initially wondering if you are raising the dog right, or if you’re correcting her well when she jumps.

I wouldn’t trade the chaotic, hectic life, for anything though.

Because of her I smile more and clean the floors daily--muddy paw prints drive me insane.

Here are 15 things you know to be true, if you are the lucky mom (or dad) of fur babies.

1.) You have accepted dog hair as part of your daily wardrobe.

Originally I tried with every ounce of energy I had to make sure not one little hair was visible on my black pant suit. Then after getting it perfect all morning, going to sit down in my front seat, I realized almost everywhere I’ve been, my dog has too..and that dog hair is coming with me whether I like it or not.

2.) Don’t bother cleaning your floors during winter.

You know damn well as soon as you bust out the mop and broom it’s going to start raining and your dog will most likely be playing in it. My point being, you’ll only be frustrated with yourself if you spend the time to do your floors for them to be destroyed 2 minutes later.

3.) Dogs are like tattoo’s--once you have one, you need another.

I actually don’t have tattoo’s for this specific reason, I know I’ll go crazy and spend all my money, so I decide to spend all my money on dogs instead...5 & counting.

4.) Saying thank you when someone says how pretty your fur baby is.

“Awe, you’re so cute!”

--“Say thank you!”

I mean, I know she is cute, so the fact you notice too...well that deserves a thank you? Right?

5.) When your fur babies are complimented on their behavior, and you feel this sudden sense of pride.

My fur baby isn’t perfect..In fact, she has a lot to work on, but it makes me so happy when others point out how well she is doing. To stop and take time out of your day to not only compliment me, but my fur baby as well, yeah that does it for me.

6.) You feel obligated to share your food.

I’ve done well at ignoring dogs who beg me before, but it is something about your own pup looking up at you with those “love me” eyes that just has you reaching for a big bite of your own food and throwing it right into their mouth.

“Oh you caught it! Oh my gosh that was so cute, you deserve another bite.”

7.) They make nap time 100000x better.

You wouldn’t think there is a better feeling in the world than laying down for a nap, but when you finally crash onto the bed, and look over to see your fur baby starring you in the face anticipating this nap too, it’s even better.

8.) Your parents treat them like their grandkids

Especially if your parents don’t have grand babies, these fur babies are now the center of their world. I can’t tell you how many Christmas bones my pup got, or the nights she stays at Grandma and Grandpa’s the yummy extra food she gets mixed into her dog food. It’s safe to say she’s always spoiled.

9.) Playing fetch becomes part of your daily routine

Depending on the type of dog you have, maybe it’s not as much, but having a german shepherd requires me to exercise that little girl daily. Even after an hour, she’s still ready to go. It’s something that’s now scheduled into my planner almost everyday.

10.) When your dog doesn’t like someone, you question whether or not you should too.

There aren’t a lot of people my fur baby doesn’t like, so when one does come around here and there, I make sure to stand guard..or at least she does it for me.

11.) You can’t just go to a pet store without buying something for your fur baby.

I remember the good old days just going to a pet-store to look at the other animals, now every time I go I’m buying something to surprise my pup with--even though she already has everything in the world.

12.) Feeling horribly disappointed when they do something bad but get that mushy spot in your stomach when you see the tail go between the legs and the ears pin back.

My fur baby can be a devil, I’ll be honest. She is still a pup, so I can’t say she is completely out of the chewing stage, or the bathroom inside stage, but we’re working on it. When I see she went to the bathroom inside, and I know she knows she’s wrong, it’s the hardest thing ever to punish her when all you want to do is take a picture of how funny she looks worried.

13.) You’ve never had a more loyal companion

My dog has been my best friend ever since I was lucky enough to pick her up. I didn’t expect to love her as much as I do, but I can’t say it isn’t the best feeling in the world.

14.) You can’t stop showing people pictures

I have a whole album in my phone of my fur-baby. A picture of her eating her first doggy sundae, a picture of the first time she looked cold, a video of her chasing her shadow... There’s a reason for all the pictures, and even with as silly as they are, they never stop .

15.) You want everyone to meet your fur baby

I would take her to anything that I could. Whether that be family parties, dog friendly stores, friends houses..I wanted everyone to get to know her the way I did, and love her for it.

Dog’s don’t get to be around as long as you’d like, but when they are around, they sure make it the best time you could ask for.
