It's that time of year again! Time for preseason! Time for fitness tests, two-a-days, ice baths, and team meetings. On the bright side...you now have an excuse to eat all the carbs your little heart desires. For those fall athletes, here are twelve thoughts we all have about preseason.
1. Fitness Tests
Here we go. We can do this. Just remember, it's all in your mind... and who knows, maybe if you throw up, your coach will let you stop.
3. Compliance meetings
Yes, I will report my concussion. No, I will not gamble. Yes, I have signed my soul over to the NCAA.
4. New gear
The motivating factor to get you through the fitness tests
5. Ice baths
Yes, I'd like a side of torture for dessert after a grueling practice, thanks so much!
6. Seeing your teammates
You missed them so much. Sure, in a month or two you'll be bickering like siblings, but for now it's hugs all around.
7. Learning everyone's names
And I swear half of them are look-a-like's so you spend half the practice going, "Hey! You! No, not you, you!"
8. Questioning your role on the team
Well, I was a midfielder last year, but he brought in six midfielders so maybe I'm a defender this year? Also, this freshman is really good, do you think they'll take my spot?
9. The blessed time when it's only athletes on campus
It's heaven with a side of football because things can't be too good.
10. The GAG
I hope you like pasta and hamburgers, because they're what's for lunch, dinner, and possibly breakfast.
11. The exhibition game
Playing with new teammates, sometimes in a new spot. It's like a first date only with a coach ready to scream at you.
And last but certainly not least...
12. The nap between practices
Unless this building is on fire or coach called a surprise team meeting, don't you dare wake me up.
