Music is a part of my everyday life (like most people,) and I have been itching to write about some of my favorite tunes. Buckle up, this is a wide variety. My mom used to sing to me when I was little (beautifully, I might add) and I thank her for showing me what real music is. Disclaimer: this list may or may not contain more than one John Mayer song.

12. "Get Down On It" by Kool & the Gang

Kool is one of my favorite bands ever. This song teaches you to get your back up off the wall and dance. Need I say more?

11. "Island in the Sun" by Weezer

Picture perfect summer song. Roll your windows down and cruise. This song can make me feel like I have no worries. Thank you, Weezer.

10. "September" by Earth, Wind & Fire

It does not have to be the 21st night of September to test the limits of your volume knob. A song that can change your mood, I just love it.

9. "Is This Love" by Bob Marley

Bob is one of my all time favorite musicians. His lyrics move me, and this song just makes me happy. Listen to the lyrics, and drive off into the sunset. Lately, I have been cranking it up by the pool.

8. "Slow Dancing In A Burning Room" by John Mayer

Man, another melody that speaks to me like no other. First time I saw it live, I cried. John Mayer is a genius. The meaning of the song is supposedly about a relationship that is about to end. We've all been there.

7. "Satellite" by Dave Matthews Band

A song which holds a special place in my heart because of the person who introduced it to me. My cousin Ryan who is no longer with us, showed me the tune on our way to a Cubs game a few years ago. I will never forget enjoying that time together, and I am so grateful music has the power to trigger emotion. It may seem like a gloomy song, but it is worth the listen.

6. "Always Be My Baby" by Mariah Carey

I don't care who you are or what type of music you are into, when this beautiful melody comes on you pretend to be MC and screech out those high notes. I am about to hop in my car and blast it.

5. "Return to Me" by the handsome Dean Martin

Such a beautiful sound, and the lyrics can make any girl swoon. First time I heard it was while watching one of my favorite films, also entitled "Return to Me." Fitting, right? Check out both of those, you will not regret it.

4. "Are U That Somebody" by Aaliyah

You wanna see me dance like it's my job? Put this song on. Oh, and Timbaland kills his little rap at the end. Go listen right now.

3. "You're the First, the Last, My Everything" by Barry White

Be right back. I am too busy grooving to this one to explain.

2. "Back To You" by John Mayer

I warned you, I am a JM super fan. To sum this one up, there's always that one person who we will always be connected to, it all goes back to them no matter how hard we try to forget. A fun, yet soft melody that I would recommend to anyone.

Drumroll please......

1. "Let's Groove" by Earth, Wind & Fire

The song that never fails to put a huge smile on my face, and a little jump in my step. Turn this on before going out to get amped up, just a feel-good song by one of the best bands to ever exist.

Well, that's all for now. I could probably list 100 more but I won't bore you to death. Check these out, and let me know some of your favorites, too! Thanks for reading, keep the music flowing.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
