If you're a Hoosier you will know these signs about being from Indiana. Each state is distinct, and here are a few things that make living in Indiana special!
1. You know exactly what living in a small town is like.
I used to hate going into bigger cities and telling people where I was from, like, "hello, my hometown is literally 30 minutes south." Plus, to top off small town living, I graduated with 94 kids in my class.
2. Getting stuck behind a tractor is normal.
Especially during farming and harvest time. It’s the worst trying to drive through the country and you get stuck behind a tractor, but you can’t pass because there isn’t enough room.
3. You sing “ They never drove through Indiana.” at the top of your lungs when you hear Fly Over States by Jason Aldean.
Don't deny this, everyone from Indiana knows this part of the song. I'm guilty of singing along as well.
4. Deer. Deer everywhere.Deer are everywhere you look.
Almost everyone you know has hit a deer. When you see them on the side of the road, you just shrug it off.
5. You aren't phased by storm warnings.
Storms are so common, that when a storm warning pops up you aren't phased by it, you continue watching t.v. like it isn't a big deal.
6. All 4 seasons happen in one day.
Indiana is known for having bi-polar weather. One minute its sunny and 70 degrees and the next it could be raining, snowing, and it is cold. Good ol' Indiana.
7. No matter where you drive you have the beautiful view of the corn fields.
You can be taking a casual drive LITERALLY anywhere in the state and BAM there are the beautiful fields of corn as far as you can see.
9. Going to Indy as a kid was a big deal!
Whether you were going to a sporting event with all friends or dinner and a concert with someone special, nothing could beat a rare trip to the big city with the people you care most about.
10. All Hoosiers are proud of the Indy 500 (even if you don't watch it.)
The Indy 500 is one of the most popular races in the world each year, and its held in none other then Indiana. Odds are, you're extremely proud of this fact, despite possibly having never even seen a race. Toting one of earth's most elite races is something to brag about.
11. Nothing beats fair time.
During the Summer one of the things you look forward to the most is the local county fair. From 4-H animals as far as the eye can see, to rides where you really aren't sure about how safe they are, who can resist the fair? And lets not forget the deep fried foods and lemon shake ups. Obvious reasons Indiana does foods right.
12. You still love Peyton Manning.
The heartbreak when the Colts let go of Ole' Peyton was real. However, despite Manning being on the Broncos roster, there is still love for him deep down. And when Peyton would return home for a game, everyone was excited.
I love my state and I am proud of where I come from. If you aren't from Indiana, I'm not saying you can't be proud of your state too. Just remember, there's nothing quite like a person from Indiana!
