Being a part of a sorority is a huge part of college culture. I have friends that are a part of Greek life, but because I go to a small school with no Greek life, there are a few things I just don't understand. Here are 11 questions I have about sororities.

1. Why are there so many secrets?

As an outsider I'll never understand why there are so many secrets. What are they about? Why can't I know? I am way too curious to know there are secrets that my friends aren't allowed to tell me.

2. Why do they cost so much?

Clothes, parties, dues and I don't even know what else. It seems to me that being in a sorority is a ridiculous commitment financially.

3. Don't you get tired of partying constantly?

When it comes to partying like a "normal" college student, I am practically an alien. So maybe that's why I don't understand how someone could party every week. I'm perfectly content going to two parties the entire summer. But somehow people in Greek life go out almost every week.

4. What is with the recruitment videos?

The goal of a sorority is obviously to get new recruits, but what is with the recruitment videos? They seem to just fuel people's judgment toward all things "basic white girl." I'm all about being basic because honestly, it's fun, but these videos lay it on a little thick.

5. What happens if you don't like your big / little?

Your big or little is supposed to be your best friend in the entire sorority. But let's be honest, not all personalities get along. When a big and little don't get along I wonder what happens.

6. How do you know every other chapter?

Whenever I tell one of my friends I know someone in another sorority, they always ask which one. And no matter what I tell them, they have an opinion on that sorority. Makes me wonder if recruits are required to take a class to learn all things Greek life.

7. Do you hate how the media portrays you?

According to the media, sorority girls are shallow, pretty and dumb girls with zero substance. You all clearly do everything in your bikinis because your looks are everything. It must be annoying.

8. What do you do with you paddle?

Yes, they're adorable and probably very special coming from your little, but I don't understand the purpose of the paddles. They must add a nice touch to your bedroom.

9. How much philanthropy do you really do?

"Srats" always talk about how much charity work they do, but it is hardly ever portrayed in the media. I guess it's just easier to believe college girls spend their weekends drinking and hanging out with frat guys than it is to imagine them doing things for charity.

10. Do you feel silly doing the hand thing?

If you don't that's cool, I just know I would and was wondering if you felt the same way. I guess when you're doing it with eight other people though it's a lot less awkward.

11. Can I join?

I understand it may have seemed like I was mocking sororities and Greek life, but I wasn't. Deep down I want to join one, even though I don't entirely understand them.

If anyone wants to answer these questions for me, then it would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure I had 40 more I couldn't think of.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
