Vermont is one of those places people think is part of Canada or a town in New York. These assumptions are wrong, Vermont is a tiny state in the North East of the United States. It has many destinations that are enjoyable for all types of people to visit.
1. Lake Champlain
Lake Champlain is one of Vermont's most prominent destinations. The waterfront provides beautiful scenery and a wonderful view of fireworks during Fourth of July weekend. Summer concerts are held here, ferry boat rides, a bike path and more. It is an adventure for all kinds of people.
2. Ben & Jerry's
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice-cream! The Ben & Jerry's factory is a fun experience to see the delicious ice-cream being made. Between taste testing, a gift shop, and seeing the process. The tour is one to attend.
3. Smuggler's Notch
Smuggler's Notch is a widely known skiing/snowboarding resort. But if you're not that type of person (like myself), the summer time holds even more opportunities. The mountain can be hiked leading to the beautiful Sterling Pond and eventually the tippity top of the mountain with the ski lifts. The view is to die for.
4. Shelburne Museum
Shelburne Museum is used as a fieldtrip destination for most middle schools. However, it attracts all sorts of people. The museum is home to the Ticonderoga, a large ship built in the 80's. Along with that are some historic sites of Vermont and even a farm!
5. Echo
Echo...echo...echo...what a fun time. Echo is a little off the shore of Lake Champlain. This place is a great time for kids and those who love sea creatures. From interactive activities to a hands-on mini ocean (yes, you get to touch sea animals!), it is one of the greatest times I have ever experienced. It was even a great venue for my Senior prom with the outdoor seating area and dance floor!
6. Jay Peak
Jay Peak used to be known just like Smuggler's Notch for the skiing/snowboarding aspect. While it is still thought of as a great resort, there is also an indoor water park. I have never been myself--but I've heard it is a blast!
7. Church Street
A lot of people have small shops in their towns. But Church Street hosts a variety of different people and appeals to tourists. It is a small strip with shops, restaurants, and a mall on either side. There are magic shows, musical performances, fundraisers, sometimes concerts and outdoor sales. It's a great place to go shopping and people watch...let's be real, we all love to people watch.
8. Quechee Gorge
The Quechee Gorge is a beautiful landscape. The water, rocks, and trees bring together a breath taking view. People like to rock climb, cliff jump, and go swimming in the Gorge. A good way to cool off and enjoy the summer breeze and get your tan on!
9. Morgan Horse Farm
Calling all horse lovers! The Morgan Horse Farm is a place anyone can visit to see horses and pet them. I, myself, haven't been in a long time, but I do know they have a variety of horses to see that are fun to watch and bond with. They do tours of the farm and even have a raffle to win a foal!
10. Teddy Bear Factory
Teddy bears are a child's best friend. The Teddy Bear Factory provides tours to see how the famous bear is made. At the end of the tour you get to make your own Teddy Bear, kind of the same idea as Build-A-Bear Workshop...just Vermont style.
11. Champlain Valley Fair
Lastly, it only comes around for one week out of the year. But it is one of the biggest adventures people can have. Rides, fair food, games, and concerts...oh my! The Champlain Valley Fair is a fun family outing or even just with friends! Everyone enjoys carnivals, but this fair is one that brings out the kid inside you.
Vermont...no we aren't a town in some other state. We have a variety of locations to see and love to involve tourists. Be sure to try REAL maple syrup if you ever pay this little state a visit!
