Athletics have always been a part of my life. Since I was seven, I've been doing the sport track and field and have been able to carry it with me to college. Being around athletes on my team and on others 24-7, you learn to eavesdrop on other teams and see what they may be discussing or complaining about. You come to learn they are very similar to what you and your team always talk about.
Though sports differ, here are 11 discussion every college student-athlete have.
1. Why did I choose this life?
Between practice, game/meets, classes, exams, sleep, and still wanting a social life, we have a lot to balance. We question our choice of being a student-athlete constantly.
2. I just want to sleep.
Most of our studying is done at night considering we normally have classes all day and then practice until six or seven. At some point, we have to eat dinner so staying up till one is an every day occurrence.
3. I'm so hungry.
If you offer any type of food to a student-athlete, I'm sure they won't deny your kind gesture. You'll probably become they're best friend.
4. I wonder what practice will be like today.
Every day is a different day of torture and death.
5. Is that smell me or you?
We don't take this as an insult. We know we don't smell the greatest after practice so sorry if you have to sit beside us in class after a morning practice.
6. Morning practices are the worst.
Because we all just love waking up at 6:00 a.m. to torture ourselves.
7. I'm so behind on school work ... but I'm going to procrastinate more.
We really enjoy our alone time and cherish it so who wants to spend that time actually doing school work?
8. I wonder what it is like to be normal and have free time.
We wonder this all the time because we want that time where you can watch Netflix for hours and hours and have an amazing social life.
9. Oh no, Coach is in a bad mood today.
Because if Coach is in a bad mood, we all know hell is upon us.
10. I look like a penguin walking right now because I'm so sore.
Because the pain we felt while doing the workout wasn't enough already.
11. I love being an athlete.
Through all the pain, sweat, and tears we wouldn't trade it for a thing.
