1. The Coffee Addiction Remains
Was it just me, or did watching Lorelai drink all that coffee make you want to take a quick trip to the Starbucks drive-thru every time? The very first spoken lines in the very first episode of Gilmore Girls were Lorelai begging Luke for more coffee.
2. April goes to Yale
Luke’s daughter April… moved to New Mexico, but she was never really shown too much again and I personally always wanted an ending to her. I mean, she’s Luke’s DAUGHTER. How cool would it be if now, assuming she would be about high school age, is now getting ready to apply to Yale just like Rory?! Luke was so proud of all of Rory’s academic accomplishments and he was happy to chaperon April’s nerd camp trip. He would be thrilled if April went to a top-ranked school, and bonus, she would be near her father.
3. Kirk and Lulu
Kirk was amazing. He was truly a hero. I hope Lulu and him are still together. Imagine if they had a kid!!!!!! And what if he’s as weird as Kirk!!!!!!!!!!!!4.) Emily is ok
Actually nevermind, the matter at hand is too sad to even address, but I hope she is ok.
5. Taylor’s sanity
Nothing in the series irked me more than Taylor freaking Dosey. He was stubborn, greedy, and just plain annoying. I hope he’s a little more tolerable in the revival.
6. Christopher out of the picture
After Taylor, Chris was the most annoying character in the series. He’s part of Lorelai’s past life who just thinks he can waltz in and out of her current life. One minute he would be part of the family, next he would leave, then come back but had to leave again because he got someone pregnant, but then come back with his daughter and just ugghhhh, so frustrating. I don’t want him to be a part this new series, he’s just flakey.
7. Hep Alien lives on
Lane was always an avid music enthusiast. The day she played the drums for the first time changed her life and she left her family to pursue her dream. The band, the music, it was all she ever wanted so I hope what she sacrificed everything for is still a part of her life.
8. Paris is a lawyer
I know she chose med school, but can you think of anyone you would want more than Paris Geller to be your lawyer? Writing, politics, debating… those were more Paris’s fields of expertise. And I don’t trust her with a scalpel.
9. RORY AND JESS please
Were you rooting for Rory and Jess as much as I was? He was the only guy she didn’t leave! Ok well technically Dean left her, but I feel like that doesn’t even count because her crush on Jess was so obvious. And she did kiss Jess at Sookie’s wedding while she was with Dean, so I guess really technically, she “left” Dean first. (Married Dean the second time around was just a huge mess so let’s not even talk about that). And Rory left Logan quite blatantly. But Jess left her! Omgomg they were so cute together and so in love, and at every encounter they had after that, their crush never died out *insert crying emoji* Jess was the only one worthy of handling Rory’s intellect and love for literature. He was the perfect jolt to her otherwise straight-laced life and she was his light into a life without rebellion. The bad boy and the girl next door… beautiful tragedy… but it doesn’t have to be! Rory and Jess are destiny, and GG revival can fulfill that! *insert praying hands emoji*
10. LORELAI AND LUKE pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee
Please please please! I ship Lorelai and Luke as much as I ship Chuck and Blair, and that’s REALLY saying something. Remember that dream Lorelai had about being pregnant with Luke’s twins?! Or when Luke had those weird tape recordings instructing him on “how to get the girl”? Or when Lorelai spontaneously proposed and Luke didn’t even need a second to answer? Their quirky crush behavior was evident throughout the entire series, definitely when they were dating other people, but even when they were dating each other, their connection never felt boring. This kind of fate simply cannot be ignored and if “Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life” has the intent of providing me any sort of closure, Lorelai+Luke is all I ask for.
