We all know of a person who is dependent on coffee. They have to drink it every day, and they have to drink more than 1 cup. They probably even have a rewards card at Starbucks. Maybe you are that person who is addicted to coffee. I know that I am that person. The person who leaves coffee mugs in the car, has coffee in hand each morning, who would rather have coffee than anything else, and who gets really passionate about different coffees, coffee makers, coffee mugs, coffee anything. Here are 5 ways to know that you are a coffee addict, I mean, lover:
1. You cannot live without it.
When you don’t have coffee, your whole world feels off. Your routine of having coffee somehow gets disrupted (like when the power goes out and you worry about not being able to brew coffee before work) and then everything feels unnatural. Coffee is what you wake up to, and what gets you through the morning, especially if you’re not a morning person. So if for some reason you don’t have coffee or not enough coffee to get you through, you feel off, you get sluggish, unfocused, tired, unhappy, empty, and unmotivated. If you have ever felt any of these side effects, you are a coffee addict.
2. You own more than 8 different coffee mugs and thermoses.
You can never have enough coffee mugs or thermoses because you want your coffee to feel loved, hot, and close to you. Always. The more mugs you have, the better. You have started a collection of mugs ranging from gifts to compulsive shopping. All of your friends buy clothes and accessories, but you always buy the best mugs and thermoses that you know will help enhance your love for coffee. Coffee mugs and thermoses gather in your room, car, office, and bags because you have to make sure that you can carry your coffee wherever you may be. Plus, most places will give you a slight discount if you use your own thermos.
3. At coffee shops, you always go for the black coffee.
When going to new coffee shops, you try their drip coffee because that is the heart of every coffee drink. Most non-coffee drinkers go for the lattes and fruity drinks, but you go for the black coffee because you want to taste and smell the ambiance of the shop. You realize which shops have the best coffee and you tell people about it. You also realize that you save a lot of money by buying drip coffee compared to frappuccinos and lattes because it’s cheap-- and cheap is good. But just because it is cheap coffee does not mean that it is cheap tasting, and you understand that.
4. You never miss an opportunity for a coffee date.
When your friends ask or propose to meet up for coffee, you always say yes. Friends are fun to chat and catch up with, but the experience is completely heightened when coffee is involved. Whether you meet up at the local coffee shop down the street, or at the school’s shop in the library, it doesn’t matter where as long as you can get coffee. Plus, the more you go to a specific place, the more you learn about the shop's deals and punch cards. Who doesn’t love discounted or even free coffee?
5. Most of your gifts revolve around coffee.
Over the years, I have received more coffee bags, appliances, mugs, shirts, posters, cards, and much more that have to deal with coffee. And I love it! When people know you as a coffee addict, you’re one of the easiest people to shop for. Got a favorite coffee? Check. Need some coffee shop gift cards? Check. Need a random and hilarious coffee accessory? Check. Anything to do with coffee, people understand that it’s for you. You can never have too much coffee, therefore, you can never have too much of anything that resembles coffee.
