I don't know you all that well. I don't know your story or all the struggles you have faced. I don't even know if we've ever spoken. I do see the hopelessness in your eyes as you pan a room. I do see right past your fake smile. I do see the scars on your arms and legs from dragging a razor across them, trying to distract you from your problems. I do not know what that pain feels like, but I feel it for you in my heart and in my entire being.
It hurts me so much to see such a wonderful human being such as yourself, feeling as if there is no other way to numb your reoccurring pain. It hurts me to see the sadness in your eyes when I see you doing something you used to love doing and knowing that there is nothing I can do to make you enjoy it once more. It hurts me to see you cry, so much so that sometimes I want to cry with you. I wish I could tell you that one day you will wake up and magically feel better. Unfortunately, that is not the way that life works. I know you ask yourself on a daily basis, "Why can't I get better? Why do I keep feeling this pulsing pain? Why did God do this to me?" I also wish I knew why because maybe then I could help you overcome this.
You are not alone, though, even if you feel like it. You may feel as if the whole entire world is collapsing beneath your feet, but I will be there to catch you. There are people who love you. People who want to see you succeed. People who want you to put the razor down because they need your beautiful smile in this world. You may not realize it, but there are people who need you. You are not what your mind makes you feel. You are stronger. How do I know this? I know this because I feel your pain, and I believe in you. I believe that you can overcome anything. I believe that your scars, your negative thoughts, do not define who you are. You are wonderfully and beautifully made and you will overcome this because God gives the toughest battles to His strongest soldiers. It is okay to not be okay and to let things out. It's okay to let people in so that they can help you.
I do not know you, but I do know your worth.
