There’s a common expression among college students these days that “Just remember someone from your hometown is still trying to become a rapper.” The saying is meant to help you realize that things could be worse and that you shouldn’t stress about your college career because well there’s still someone you know struggling to be a rapper. Often times it’s said as a joke, but what happens when that guy from your hometown becomes a platinum selling rap artist. This is the case for me and anyone else who attended Grapevine High School in Grapevine, Texas. Austin Post was a student when I knew him. I knew he had a knack for music, it seemed at times that everyone did in that school. He would have friends and classmates listen to his music, but before I knew it, he graduated and not long after I did too. After that I never really thought too much of it, I figured he had gone to a college, maybe make a few songs for fun, and overall lived a relatively normal life. Man was I wrong! It wasn’t until awhile into my freshman year at UNT that I began to hear about a song called “White Iverson” from a few friends from high school. I would give it a listen and when the video dropped, I saw a familiar face! It was Austin Post, now going by the name of Post Malone. It took a little bit for his first song to take off, but when it did, man it caught fire! His hit single “White Iverson” has now been viewed close to 200 Million times on YouTube, and that’s only counting the 2 versions posted to his channel. Pretty soon I was hearing this guy who roamed the same halls as me, went to the same classes, and knew the same people as me, all over the radio. It’s safe to say that my girlfriend’s younger brother thought it was the coolest thing ever! After “White Iverson” Post Malone signed a record deal with Republic Records, went on to open for Justin Bieber and go on his own tours all across the country. He’s now even worked with other artists such as 50 cent and Kanye West, not too bad for a guy that went to Grapevine High School. His newest big hit “Go Flex” seems to be the perfect summer jam as well. Things seem to be only on the rise for Austin. I wish him the best of luck in his rap career, and I look forward to the next big song from the newest rap superstar. As for what this means for me and the rest of the people from Grapevine, Texas is that there really is no reason that we can’t follow our dreams. Well that and our area is going to get a whole lot more popular.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
