Emotions.
Can you think of that person in your life that is just super emotional? That's me, no doubt. I am hands down the most emotional person there is. And often times, I get so caught up in my emotions and what the world is feeding me that I lose sight of the truth. I am blind to the perfect plan of God.
"Your emotions cannot tell the difference between real and fake." -Pastor Grant Pankratz
Did you get that? Your emotions live off of what you're feeding them. If you are gaining your mindset from the world and what it has to feed you, then you're feeding your emotions the wrong things. You're tricking yourself to believe that your life is falling apart, that you're not good enough, that there's no reason to live.
However, when you feed your emotions the truth, that God has a perfect plan, that you are enough, that you are going to be OK, that there is a reason for everything, your emotions will bring you joy and trust. Your anxiety about life will have peace. When you are troubled and decide to run to God instead of the world, you feed yourself with truth and your emotions reap positivity and joy giving yourself a completely different outlook on life.
Your emotions are not only fed by what you are allowing the world to feed you, but what you yourself are feeding them as well. If you feel ashamed, you’ll be ashamed. If you feel like a bad person, you’ll be a bad person.
"Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are becoming new." (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Maybe once you were a bad person. Maybe once you did things you are ashamed of. But God’s word tells us that all of that has passed away. It is no longer. Now you are a new creation. You are a brand new piece of artwork to be created. Your chains have been broken and you are set free. So leave those feelings in the pass. Stop telling yourself you are terrible and those things can never be forgiven. Because they can. They have. You are free from your bondage and can now tell yourself, “I am unashamed. I am created for a purpose. I can do all things through Him who gives me strength”.
You are a new creation.
So feed yourself truth.
Run to the word.
Run to your father.
