Time is of the essence. One day is made up of 24 hours, 8 of which should be asleep, although many are lucky to get a few. Another 8 and beyond are used towards work, and that does not include the commute to and from. The time that is left is normally spent on leisure — going to the gym, watching TV, surfing the web and the like. This is the structure of many lives — the human life.
This is how this so-called time works. When you are in a state of wanting it to move past, those are the moments in which it begins to slow down. However, when life is looking and feeling good, those are the times in which it progressively moves faster.
So why am I saying this? We structure our lives around time, which ultimately dictates what we do, when we do it. We put things on hold because we do not have time for them. We pause projects that we are passionate about and exciting ventures to explore, all based on this notion that we do not have enough time.
I know what you might be thinking: "Well, I really don't have enough time." However, I can assure you that you have time for whatever you truly want to have time for. When you decided to come home and binge watch Netflix, did you have time? When you worked overtime just to get a few extra bucks in your pocket, did you have enough time? When you spent hours in the night obsessing over a fight or disagreement you had with someone else, did you have time?
None of these things were forced onto you or dictated. There were no penalties for not doing them. You decided that they were important, that they needed to be done. Regardless if they were of benefit to you, you did them because you ultimately made the time for them.
I could sit here and lie and say that I am perfect and that I have never misused my time, but I have. We all have. If you truly want to do something, you would do it — no questions asked.
Stop making excuses for why you can’t, and start doing. Work on those projects that you've pushed aside. Explore those avenues in which you have always wondered about. Use the time you have here on earth to the best of your abilities. If you do not like where are, change it. Life is indeed short, but never think that you do not have enough time.
