After spring break, everyone suddenly becomes really busy. We see our friends, and all we talk about is how tired or busy we are. We all have assignments, papers, tests, work, classes and so many more things to juggle. It seems like everyone is in a rush to get here or there. We are all overworking ourselves or stressing ourselves out. If you are like me you procrastinate all of the work you need to do and end up with the feeling that you are drowning in work.
Take a break. I am not telling you not to do your homework or to skip out on class, but if it's a nice day out, take a walk. Do something for yourself. Not something that you need to get done, or check off of your endless to-do list. Do something simply because you can. It doesn't have to be something that takes a while, it can be to read that chapter of the book you have been meaning to start or to grab coffee with a friend.
We always think about the things we are neglecting and worry about how we are going to do in this class or that one. The one thing we don't think about is how we are neglecting ourselves. So many of us talk about how school is stressing us out, or even that we are depressed. The reason is that although we are taking care of all of our responsibilities we aren't necessarily worrying about our mental health.
If you want to take a break to go take a nap, or to watch that show you love, don't stop yourself. You aren't "wasting time," you are living life. If you find a balance you can live life and get everything done at the same time. My overall point is just take five minutes to do something simply because you want to today. You only have one life so why not go out and live it.
