A New Year means a new you. A fresh start to let yourself be all of the things you couldn't be last year, and to move forward from all of the shit that has been holding you back.

Here are 11 things that I'm looking forward to most with the new year coming.

1. Self Love

This past year, I had forgotten what it was like to be in love with myself. I had forgotten that I'm important too. This year, I'm committed to dedicating more time for myself. Small, daily reminders to show myself some love and give myself some credit, because I matter.

2. Mending Relationships

So often life gets the best of us. Time moves quickly and we forget about all of the people we're surrounded with. Take time out of your day to remind the people around you that you love and cherish them. Go on a coffee date, text an old friend. Rekindle those fires and bring back the light and love that you've lost.

3. Soul Searching

Stop walking through the motions. Go out and experience new things. Meet new people, travel to new places. Find yourself along with some inspiration. Fill all of the lonely voids that have been thriving within you for months.

4. Body Love

Time and time again I seem to let myself go. Physically, I am unhappy therefore mentally I am too. Start to show your body some serious love. Hit up a yoga class. Go to kickboxing with a friend. Fuel your body with the right foods, not man-made chemical things. Your body is your temple. Treat it that way.

5. Fuel Happiness

Rid yourself of all the negativity. Remind yourself daily that people are who they are and you can never change them. Happiness can come from you and solely you. Do small acts of kindness daily for other people. Shed light and love.

6. Job Love

What makes you happy? What inspires you? Do some research and find a career that allows you to be both of these things, all while making a difference in this world. Be so happy with your job that you couldn't imagine life any other way.

7. New Memories

What's better than those "remember that time?" stories? Don't let the homework or late night shifts stop you from going out and creating memories. If you're girlfriends/guy-friends ask you to go out, say yes. Be risky, have fun. Create new stories.

8. Learn Something

Don't be intimidated at the idea of knowledge. Expand your mind, educate yourself, get involved. Vote in the presidential election, sit in at town meetings. Create discomfort and discussions. Let your voice be heard.

9. Set Goals

Hold yourself accountable for all of the things you slacked off from doing last year. If these goals don't seem attainable, make new ones. Create possibilities for yourself, be realistic. Help yourself reach these new goals and have a blast while doing it.

10. Move Forward

Say goodbye to all of the lost hope. The dwindling relationships and friendships gone wrong. Leave it all in the past. Create new, positive space for yourself that can only be used for self-growth.

11. A Fresh Start

Last year is last year. Leave it there. So often we take our old problems with us everywhere we go. Rid yourself of this baggage and set yourself free. You are not your problems. Like 2016 be the light at the end of the tunnel.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
