You Are Loved

Jeremiah 31:3

In today's society, I believe that we as human beings seem to forget how much we are loved. We are loved by our heavenly father. I think sometimes we focus on all of the negative things going on in the world. We focus on arguments and debates; we worry and stress about the future of our country, the future of our children, and our own future. Those worries are valid, but when it becomes all you can think about, that worry and stress soon consumes us. If we become so wrapped up in worry and stress, we soon neglect the powerful truth. And that is that we are loved. It is not in our ability to comprehend the constant overflow of unconditional love that is bestowed upon us by God. Once we truly understand the way he loves us, all the fear and anxiety would soon be irrelevant. Here are some of the ways Jesus loves you.

1. He loves unconditionally

It is in our human nature to love someone conditionally. We only love that person based on what they can do for us or what they can give us. That is the mentality that we, as humans, possess. Christ's love was shown on the cross. His love was not conditional, it was not prejudice, and it was not resentful. It was a love that was freely given. It was a love that you and I did not deserve. But it was a unconditional love that paid the debt that we could not pay. Christ loves you unconditionally, meaning that he loves your flaws and all. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

2. His love is simple

John 3:16 totally captures the meaning of God's love for his children. He loved so dearly that he gave his only begotten sons's life so that we could have eternal life. All we have to is confess and believe that he is Lord. You do not have to pay to be loved; it is freely given. It is a gift, and all we have to do is accept it. It is as simple as that. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

3. His love does not change

It is 2016, and everything is constantly changing. Our views change, our lifestyles change, and our rules change. The one thing that will forever stay constant is the love of God. Malachi 3:6 says, "I am the LORD, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed." He is the same throughout the ages. So what makes you think that his love for you has? His love is unchanging. Even when you have made the same mistake over and over again, His love for you stays the same. His feelings for you will never change.

4. His love has no bounds

Psalm 139:7-12 states clearly that you can never be out of reach from Christ's love. You can never run from it, and you can never hide from it. When Adam and Eve first sinned in the garden, they decided to hide from God. God knew exactly where they were in their sin. God knows exactly where his children are, and he knows where they have come from. He knows where you are in every situation, and he still chooses to love you. His love will always find you.

5. His love does not end

The never-ending love of God connects to who he is. God is love. The bible says that God is the Alpha and The Omega, the beginning and the end. He will always exist, as well as his love for us. "The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying, 'I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.'" Jeremiah 31:3

How amazing does that make our God? He loves you with every fiber of his being, and He will never stop loving you. That is the same love that I wish to have. I hope you know that you are loved today.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
