10 Things You Never Have to Worry About If You Have a Lifelong Best Friend

Most people can't even remember the name of their best friend at age five. But you can name her in an instant, partially because you just left her house. Your relationship with your best friend has spanned a lifetime, and she's still your go-to person. People and things have changed, and it hasn't always been easy, but she's stood by you through it all. And as a result, your relationship is a little bit...well, different. But its almost 100% stress free, because there's just so many things you don't have to worry about anymore. For example:

1. You never have to wonder if you'll be fed when you go over to her house.

You don't even ask anymore. Chances are, you head straight for the fridge when you walk in. Also, her mom keeps a box of Nutty Bars in the freezer just in case you come over.

. You never have to explain who or what you're talking about.

When you say "that one guy" or "that thing from eighth grade", she knows you're talking about the guy who took you on a horrible date to McDonald's sophomore year or the time you got pantsed in gym class.

3. You never have to watch what you say or how you act around her.

She's seen it all from you over the years--mean, grouchy, angry, devastated, stressed, overexcited, underwhelmed, crying, screaming, laughing. She's seen you act a million different ways and still loves you. There's no problem being 100% honest and real with her about what you think and how you feel.

4. You never have to worry about entertaining her when you're together.

Over the course of nearly two decades, you've taken more naps together than you can count. You have plenty of fun memories, but you're comfortable just chilling on the couch together watching Dance Moms and eating junk food. You have all the same favorite movies and shows anyways, and being together is better than being apart.

5. You never have to wonder if she's being honest with you.

You'd know if she was lying anyways, but she knows that having your back sometimes means telling you that the guy you're dating isn't good enough for you or shooting down the idea that you could rock the fanny pack trend.

6. You never have to go through anything alone.

After all this time, she's got a sixth sense about your feelings. She knows immediately when you need her and goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure you feel loved and appreciated and taken care of, because that's how much she cares about you.

7. You never have to apologize for being you.

She knows everything about you, even the weird stuff that usually freaks other people out. But at this point, she could care less that you sleep with socks on or that you sometimes eat leftover lasagna for breakfast. She accepts you and loves you, quirks and all.

8. You never have to worry about constantly maintaining your relationship.

You've got your awesome life, and she's got her awesome life. As time has gone by, you've met new people and had experiences separate from each other. Sometimes, that means losing touch for a little while. But no matter what, you're always able to pick up right where you left off, and nothing ever changes.

9. You never have to wonder if someone is rooting for you.

Your best friend is your number one fan. When something good happens to you, she's the first person to text you, congratulate you, or plan a surprise celebration. She would never view you as competition because your successes are her successes. She's proud of you no matter what, and loves nothing more than to see you happy.

10. You never have to wonder if you'll always be friends.

Your friendship has stood the test of time, and there's not much that would ever come between the two of you. Your best friend is your soulmate and your other half, and you'll never let her go. You can't anyways. That girl knows too much.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
