Workout Clothes Don't Have to be Boring

Workout Clothes Don't Have to be Boring

It's that time of the year again. While essentially “swimsuit season” should be an all year effort, now is the time where the average human has to treat Jimmy Johns like an old, distant friend. At least kale is really flavorful.

Anyway, today I have asked some of my colligate associates whom I consider in particularly good shape how they make an effort to stay fit and even more fun, what they wear to do it.

Let’s chat.

First we have Jillian Rothweiler, a Tri Delta from the University of Florida. Jillian likes to stay fit by running anywhere from four to seven miles outdoors (casual). She is wearing a coral tank from Athletica, Nike shorts more popularly known as “Norts” because “runderwear is a must have” and black Nike Free running shoes because they’re “lightweight and great for distance running."

Next we have Oscar Skjærpe, a Sigma Chi at the University of Florida. To stay in shape, Oscar likes to play sports, lift weights, and run. He recommends wearing “any cut off or tank top, but sorority [tanks] are preferred.” Oscar is also wearing Head Athletic shorts, because “they are flexible, which is good for leg days and running.” Oscar completes his look with black Nike Free running shoes and Puma socks, the “normal cut”, because “no need for tube socks unless you’re planning on playing basketball after working out.”

Buddy Reed, a baseball player for the University of Florida, shows us how to get a very brand-oriented look in his mirror selfie. Buddy is wearing, in his own words, “Nike, Nike and Nike.” Buddy likes to go to the “gym” when he isn’t practicing for baseball. I guess we will never know his real workout secrets. Good luck in Omaha, Buddy!

Last, but never forgotten, we have Ben Lawless, a swimmer at the University of Florida who believes in a very minimal look for working out. Ben is wearing a Speedo Endurance Lite Brief and that is pretty much it. According to Ben, he “swims four hours a day six times a week and does a lot of dry land [workouts] outside of the pool.” Wow, that sounds like a really easy workout schedule if you ask me. Mermen are real, just ask Ben.

Love the pink and purple, Ben. Very cool. Very fun.

While I am not a colligate athlete (lol) my personal favorite workout is Orangetheory Fitness which is group personal training that is completely heart rate monitored. My favorite aspects of this workout is that it is full body in just one hour, and you can physically see on a screen how many calories you’re burning during the duration of the workout. It’s pretty rad. My go-to look for working out is usually just some completely ridiculously patterned Lululemon pants and a Lululemon tank. Lululemon is my soul: my one desire. Anyways, I didn’t insert a picture of myself because ain’t nobody wanna see that, trust me!

I’m sorry if this sounded like a Nike advertisement, but hey, get out there, get fit, and why not wear great clothes while doing it? We are long past the days of boring workout attire, I mean Calvin Klein even has his own workout line now. If anything, just go hula hoop like Michelle Obama in the picture below.

Slay, Michelle.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
