Throwing. Pulling hair. Deceiving the referee. Tag teams. These are the words that I associate with wrestling. Not just any kind of wrestling, but female wrestling. I never thought I'd get into wrestling at all. I'm a relatively quiet person that enjoys personal space. In wrestling, there is none. Wrestlers get in each other's faces, and basically grab anything they can in order to win. Even though I'm not a pro or a fanatic, I do love to watch WWE matches occasionally in my free time.
When I was little, I'd always wanted everyone to think I was the strongest out of all of my classmates. I would always make up stories about how I'd beat someone at a game or about how high I could kick. I took gymnastics at the time and I was pretty flexible so I thought I was the best. I always recall those times when I watch every wrestling match, even now.
I'd always wished I would have kept up the drive to be stronger and faster. School took a big chunk of my time and I'd focus more on making grades than being physical with sports. I am able to admire what professional wrestlers do for a living although I would dream about doing it myself. Wrestling does take a toll on the body, any physical sport does. Being constantly slammed on the mat, being picked up and slammed, being hit on the head, and all of the moves wrestlers use to tap out aren't exactly pleasant.
I've watched both men and women's WWE matches, but I personally prefer women's matches as it makes me realize that girls can be as tough as men. Both the hair pulling and the revealing outfits I could do without, but it's amazing to see women picking others up and being able to throw them around, just as men in their own matches are. I would prefer women to not be called divas, but it's a part of entertainment.
Again, I'm not a huge fanatic of wrestling and I have only watched WWE matches, but I like what I see. It sure will keep me busy, and I get to root for the people I like! With all the people in the audience at the matches, I know I'm not alone.
