When men imagine a female uprising, they imagine a world in which women rule men as men have ruled women.

—Sally Kempton

"I don't know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room."

“When you’re a star, they let you do it.”

This month has seen many comments against the female gender. The first quote comes from the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari when he was visiting Germany. The president was talking about his wife of 27 years, Aisha Buhari in regards to her opposition to him running for president in the next election. The second comes from the Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump. Trump was recently involved in a tape release and stated to have said some degrading things about women.

Does it shock me that men still talk this? The short answer is no.

The year might be 2016 but that doesn’t mean that everyone has changed their opinion when it comes to women. To some people we should reverse time and go back to the good old days when the only things woman had to worry about was the cooking and cleaning. To others we should be able to have the same chances as our male counterparts. Such things include getting an education and even getting jobs. However, we shouldn’t be too smart or we could come across as less desirable. When it comes to working woman shouldn’t get paid more than men or even as equally, because they have for years been the breadwinner.

To be honest I think all those kind of ideals are a load of bullshit. Why should woman hide how smart that they are? Why should girls be taught that a successful woman is one that marries a man who can provide for her? The question at the end of the day is why is it alright for people who lead or could lead nations one day allowed to say things that degrade women?

People never question an issue until it is finally spoken out loud. Until they can actually hear the words that they are so scared to speak on their own. When it finally comes down to it people will choose the side that is less likely to catch fire and they will watch as their past ship sinks. I do not want people to switch to supporting women's rights when they never believed in it the first place.

Where were you when they began stating how women shouldn’t be able to vote? Where were you when people spoke outrage at a young woman’s rapist? When he was being let go because he was male and you stood in the shadows watching. Where were you in all of this? The answer is simple you were the ones that clapped to our distress in the distance. You were the evil monster that we tried so hard to stop before everything was destroyed.

Women are not some sexual objects to fulfill a man’s needs. They also do not live to cater and serve their husbands. They do it because they love their men and everyone likes to pamper their spouses every now and then. It has nothing to do with one's gender. So this piece is a thank you to the woman and men who stand behind women's rights. A statement to the young girls out there in the world, you can be anything you want to smart and all.

Also to those that are against and back people who do not believe in women's right. Stay in your lane.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
