Being a morning person can be hard. Especially in college when it’s easy to find yourself still awake at two am, wondering how in the world you’ll make it to that eight am class. If this is you, there are plenty of reasons to start waking up and going to bed earlier.
You’ll be more likely to make it to that first class.
This is so obvious but so important. If you wake up earlier and with a good night’s rest, you can get to class with plenty of time to eat a good breakfast and look put together.
You could squeeze in a work out before class.
It can be hard to hit the gym in the afternoon when there’s homework and errands to be done. If you can manage it, the gym is often less crowded earlier in the day and it’s a good way to energize at the start of your day.
You can study.
Okay sure, it might not be the most fun way to spend your early morning, but it sure is a good use of that time. You could read over your notes for next class, work on an assignment due later, or get started on research for that paper coming up.
You could make your bed.
Starting off the day with a freshly made bed and tidy room can help you get organized for the whole day. Having a neat place is especially nice if you’re living in a small room on campus, and your roommate will definitely appreciate your cleanliness.
You can actually savor that cup of coffee.
Drinking coffee in class isn’t nearly as enjoyable as drinking it in your pajamas. If you’re running late every day but you absolutely need coffee in the mornings, you end up taking your coffee on the go and drinking it through a morning lecture. Drinking coffee while you’re still cozy and before you have to really start the day is just so much more satisfying.
You can watch the morning news.
There’s something calming about watching or reading the news while getting ready in the morning. You’ll be caught up on the events of the past few days and ready for that one professor that always asks students to relate current events to the lecture.
You can actually iron your clothes.
If you wake up and get dressed in a hurry, you might not have had time to straighten up your clothes. But if you give yourself some extra time, you can look as put together as possible.
You’ll be more prepared for the entire day.
Waking up and taking the time to get ready each morning will help you be prepared for everything you have going on. You can be sure you have all the supplies you need to get from class to work, to the coffee shop for your afternoon study session.
