Everyone has a list of places they want to travel to. Across the country or across the world, people want to travel for different reasons and to see different things. Whether it’s to find out about where you came from or just to see a different place, traveling can open your eyes in many ways. Traveling is one of the most popular topics on a bucket list, which I think makes a lot of sense. Here’s why I think it should be on everyone’s bucket list:
1.The experiences.
Life is full of experiences, it’s all in how you look at the world. Experiences have the ability to make us who we are. They are a big part of us and our lives. Traveling gives you so many new and exciting experiences to include in your life story. Use your experiences to better yourself and the way you look at things. Make your life full of adventures and experiences will find their way to you.
2.The cultural diversity.
Let’s be honest, what’s better than seeing life through another culture’s eyes? Experiencing a new culture first hand can change your outlook on all of the people who surround you every day. Put all of your history classes from high school and college to use and see it with your own eyes. Learn about why they do things so differently and where their traditions came from. There’s no better way to become well-rounded than learning about different cultures.
3.The opportunity.
Not everybody can travel to all of the places they want to go. If you have the opportunity, take it. You never know what may happen to affect your ability to travel in the future. Do it while you know you can, whether it’s while you’re in college or just settling down into your new life after college. Go. Before you have things that prevent you from being able to just pick up and go. It’ll be worth the money you put into it if you make it all you want it to be. Don’t let anything stop you, even (especially) yourself.
4.The differences.
What’s so good about the same old routine every day? Whether or not people want to admit it, change is good. If you travel you get to see what is different about your ways as opposed to the ways of others. Maybe the climate is different (or normal if you’re originally from Massachusetts), or maybe it’s the language or even the way the destination looks. You never know unless you see it for yourself. Pictures can only do so much in certain instances.
5.The people.
Who knows who you’ll meet when you travel, no matter where you go. You could meet your future best friend, future spouse, or a future travel buddy. Traveling lets you meet so many different people as opposed to being around the same kind of people all the time and it gives you a different outlook on people in general. Being able to interact with so many people is healthy for both the mind and the spirit. Get to know all kinds of people and get to know them well.
6.The realization.
Maybe you find out who you want to be, where you want to live, or what you want to do with your life. Traveling can open your eyes to so much more than people realize. You get to look at your life from a different perspective and see how other people live their lives. Traveling can inspire people to better themselves and their lives simply by showing you what you can change. Traveling is one of the best ways to find yourself and the best version of you.
7.The reality.
Going away for a while lets you take a break from reality. It also makes you realize the reality you live in. In other words, it can show you things about yourself that even you didn’t know. It can also show you things you want to change about your reality; maybe you want to live more simply or live more extravagantly. Sometimes taking a break from reality is something you need to do for yourself to find yourself.
8.The memories.
Many things will fade away as our lives go on, however, memories will always be with us. Traveling is an amazing way to make memories to tell your future grandkids. Think back to some of your favorite childhood memories, they give you a sense of how things were at a certain time even though they’ve changed over time. That’s the best part, memories never change. If all we had in this life were memories, wouldn’t you want to have an abundance of them?
9.The pictures.
Can you say Instagram-worthy? Traveling is the best opportunity for you to pull out your camera or phone and snap away at an overwhelming rate with it being acceptable. Even a candid picture of a person you walk by on the street is acceptable because it captures life in a different place. Pictures are worth a thousand words, so run your mouth. Snap away. When you look back at your photo album in ten years you’ll be able to relive your trip all over again and you’ll be thankful for the pictures you took on your trip, no matter what they’re of.
10.The journey.
Even if your plane is delayed for three hours and you’re stuck staring out a wide open window contemplating turning yourself right back around. Later on, you’ll look back and those moments will stick out to you. The journey is just as important as the destination. Live every moment to the fullest and don’t take it for granted. Learn from your journey to better the next one.
