The Olympics are a great way for family, friends or anyone to come together and celebrate something. If you don't already love the Olympics, here are some great reasons why you should!

1. Family Fun

This is a time when you can come together with family and friends and enjoy friendly competition. It's always so exciting when you're rooting for your favorite competitors, waiting to see who wins the gold.

2. Friendly Competition

The Olympics are fun for the competitors too! A little friendly competition never hurt anyone. The games give everyone a chance to root on their favorite country, team, or athlete. We're able to enjoy these decade long rivalries that will forever be classic to the Olympic games.

3. Economic Positives

The Olympics generate and create a great influx of income, especially from the country hosting and with that volunteering becomes a huge saver. Let alone, merchandise can create great profit and there's the added benefit of the buildings being utilized after the games are over.

4. Positive Role Models

The Olympic games are filled with disciplined, strong and positive athletes that are perfect role models for both men and women. They prove that with hard work and determination anything can be possible.

5. Global Attention

The Olympics are great because it gives international attention to all the countries involved. It gives everyone a chance to be in the lime light and share the center stage.

6. Unity!

One of the best parts about the Olympics is the fact that people from all around the world come together to either participate or watch. Although there is friendly competition, there seems to be an underlying support for everyone that competes being that it is such an accomplishment. The fact that people come together from all around the world to support the games allows everyone to see experience different cultures.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines.
