I'm not too committed to watching the Olympics, and I'm not too sure of everyone in it, but one thing I do know is that Simone Biles is a true role model. It didn't take the world or I too long until we became obsessed with this 19-year-old world champion, winning four consecutive all around titles and earning 14 total world championship medals.
After watching flawless performance after performance, it was totally clear that Simone has a bright, shining aura that you can easily feel and get inspired by, even just watching her through your TV screen. It made me feel an overwhelming emotion of pride, confidence, and inspiration, as Simone keeps her shoulders back, chin up, and flows into her own floor routine doing her own thing and being amazing at it. She is truly an American icon for young ladies.
It made me confused why our world and social media are always blowing up with how skinny Kylie Jenner is and why you should be her size too in order to be beautiful or like the risky pictures leaked of famous celebrities in their bathing suits. Why are we constantly surrounded by getting told how we should look, through stupid Donald Trump and his Twitter drama, and not through amazing role models like Simone herself?
Simone is a champion, and we have it in us, too. She is the perfect evidence that if you never give up, have faith in yourself, and constantly work for what you want, you can accomplish anything. Only 19 years old, she is the perfect role model for not only adults, but especially kids and teenagers. We see her silly, teenage side as she man-crushes over Zac Efron like any other teenage girl. Realizing that she actually isn't a super human (but probably the closest it can get,) and she is just like us. She is a healthy, bright, energized, inspiring young woman that we can all see just by videos.
You don't have to look a certain way to be worthy, what makes you beautiful is taking care of your health, body, and mind while loving yourself. I hope we can all gain inspiration through this amazingly talented 19 year-old. As she keeps doing what she loves to do, regardless of what anyone else has to say, she keeps her head held high with a smile on her face.
