Would I ever protest the National Anthem? Probably not. Instead of sitting to protest what's wrong, I stand to celebrate what's right. But that's just me. I have the right to stand or sit.
That's what people don't understand. Kaepernick has the right to do whatever he wants. If he wants to sit or neal, that's his thing. That's one of the greatest things about America. You have so much freedom. To put it in the words on Ron Swanson-
Like with the anthem protest, I would never eat so bad that I get to an unhealthy weight. I have the right to stay fit. But at the same time, I do have the right to eat terribly and get super fat.
To the people saying he should be banned or shouldn't be allowed to protest, you are going directly against what our country was founded on. Remember the Boston Tea Party? A bunch of protestors dumped tea in the Boston Harbor to protest a government that wasn't protecting their rights. That is literally what Kaepernick is doing. He's protesting a nation that clearly has issues going on when it comes to police and minorities. And while I'm not saying that Kaepernick's protest is better than the Tea Party, he isn't damaging any property, putting anyone's lives at risk, or anything. He's literally just taking a knee.
I find it hilarious too that people are making such a big deal out of this. No matter what your beliefs, affiliations, socioeconomic statuses are, you know this country isn't perfect. Everyone knows there are problems in this country. Is Kaepernick really causing so much harm that every other problem in this nation gets thrown under the rug? He's taking a knee. That's it. He's not calling for police to be killed, he's not interrupting the anthem, he's engaging in a peaceful protest. Like I said, I don't agree with his style of protest. I wouldn't do it. But if I were to peacefully protest a problem in this country, like I don't know maybe how football players make million upon millions of dollars per year while our military gets paid almost nothing, I would expect Kapernick to respect my protest, just as I do his. And everyone that's hating on him would expect the exact same.
There seems to be a belief in this country that everyone has the freedom of speech, unless it hurts our feelings. This is an issue on all sides of the political spectrum. Certain people don't think that Trump should have the right to say the rude things he does, but then they call him names and give him the same treatment. There are others that claim that we have the most freedoms in the world in this country, but they don't think that people should be allowed to protest the flag. See the problems here? If you truly support freedom, then you need to support freedom for EVERYONE, not just yourself and your interests.
