I have always been a planner. I am the girl with multiple calendars who is constantly writing in them and crossing items off. My life has always been planned. Even if I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, I knew I wanted to go to college. I knew I wanted to do something I loved, and I wanted to be good at it. I knew I want to get married and have kids one day. I had it all planned.
When I got to college I figured out the major I wanted and recently I just figured the track I want to take. I am a part of a Greek organization, a writer for Odyssey and a part of a couple other organizations. I stay busy to where my resume will get me into a master's program, and I can continue my education as planned. I thought everything in my life was going perfectly and that nothing could ruin the plans I had set for myself, but boy was I wrong.
I've heard a quote that says "if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans." God must have been crying he was laughing at me. I had everything planned out, and I thought it was His plan, but things change. I'm not sure why, and I can't even explain it, but sometimes things just aren't meant to be.
In the past week, my life has changed drastically and not in the way I hoped it would. The last week has been one of realizing that people aren't always the people they say they are, and promises usually don't work out. The last week showed me that not all the plans you have that seem so set in stone come true. The last week has taught me that people change and just to accept that. The past week has taught me that there are other plans that are meant for my life other than the ones I had planned. God's plan. This past week has been one of hurt, anger and frustration.
But this next week will be one of strength. This next month will be one of perseverance. The next days and minutes will be spent with the people who love me and that is all I can ask for. You never realize how strong you are until something tries to break you, and you do not break. My plans, while they are different than I thought they would be, are now going to enrich my life in ways I cannot understand right now. I can't understand why my heart feels this way, but one day I might. I can't understand why people change, but one day I might. There are new plans meant for my life and although I wish there wasn't, I am still looking forward to all God has intended for me, no matter what it may be.
Right now, I may not be able to understand what my Father has in store for me, but I know He has the perfect life planned for me and I just have to wait. So when that boy breaks your heart, or you fail your class or don't get that job you wanted, think of the other amazing plan God has waiting for you. That one plan might have been everything to you, but the plan God has intended for you will bless you more than you ever thought possible.
