Why is it important to be a gentleman? Well, let me first begin with this... Are you not already?
If you’re not already, that’s okay, there is still time to change and first it might help to understand what it takes. A gentleman is a man of good, courteous conduct. If you've ever heard the saying, “actions speak louder than words,” well, this phrase correlates to being a gentleman.
Maybe you’re thinking, “well this is dumb,” or maybe you're thinking (and hopefully you're thinking), “well hmm... what are some of these 'actions’ that would speak louder than words?”
Everyone knows the whole “man opens the car door for you” scenario. And yes ladies, believe it or not, that actually happened more often than not in a time long ago, but it’s actions like these that let women know you’re man of good, courteous conduct.
More relevant actions today (you don’t have to opt out completely on the car door idea, guys) are simple skills that will drive the ladies wild if you perform them. And lucky for you, guys, they aren’t even hard actions to follow.
Listening.
Listening is a huge action that will go a long way. If someone is talking, listen and reply with something thoughtful. Yeah, that’s it guys! So many times all girls want is to be heard. No, you might not care about the new boots she just bought or how her best friend is going out on a date. We get it, it’s not relevant to you. But just listen. She appreciates it more than you know.
Next is putting the phone down.
There is nothing absolutely worse than sitting on the phone while hanging out with your girl. You might just be checking up with friends, scrolling through Facebook, or playing Clash of Clans. But as you’re doing that, she’s probably annoyed, fuming, and not feeling very important. As hard as it might be to stop building your village to fend off raiders and lead your clan to victory, just find it in yourself to put it away. She will be thankful. Maybe you two can even have a conversation!
The last one is doing the little things.
This can be a wide variety of actions and can range from giving her your jacket when she’s cold or getting her unexpected flowers for no reason. If that seems too cliche for you, maybe try something that you know will make her happy. Perhaps try to cook her a dinner one night (even though you have the chance of burning the house down), or get up early and start the coffee pot. It’s little, unexpected surprises that will remind her how grateful she is to know that she has you.
And if you’re already doing these things, keep it up. All girls love a good gentleman.
