Why I'm Praying For Myself As A Future Wife

I'm praying for my future husband in the best way possible. By praying for myself.

Why I'm Praying For Myself As A Future Wife

Recently there's been a lot of talk about praying for your future husband. People are writing books, making post, and thinking about who they're going to spend the rest of their lives with. And it's great! I'm so glad that I'm surrounded by women everywhere who already love their husbands enough to take him to the highest power.

It's amazing that we're remembering the men we will one day spend the rest of our lives with are humans who deal with struggles and temptation just like us and not like men who are going to fix all of our problems. But I think we might be missing an even better person to pray for with thoughts of the future. Ourselves.

Every night I lay down and take time to pray. I thank God for the day and everything he's given me. I ask Him to help the people I know who are struggling and to keep my loved ones safe. I pray that He helps everyone in the hospital in whatever way that looks like and he finds good homes for all the animals (I know, I know, juvenile, but God never put an age limit on crazy request. I mean, isn't He the one who could do it?). And every night until about six months ago I use to pray for my one-day husband. I prayed God would lead him from temptation, protect his body, heart, and soul, and that He would allow my husband to stay on the path that would lead him to become my husband.

And then one day I saw a quote online that said, "Many pray 'Lord, send me a husband or wife', but few pray 'Lord, prepare me to be a husband or wife'." And right there something clicked. If I want a husband that's everything the Lord has prepared for me, I need to make sure I'm trying my best to be the women the Lord has prepared for him. And at that moment, I decided that I would still pray for my husband, but in a different way.

I know what I want my husband to be like and I know God has chosen someone beyond my wildest dreams for me. I need to make sure I'm ready when he comes around. After my realization, I started praying the same things I prayed for my husband for myself. I now pray that the Lord helps me be the women my husband needs me to be today and every other day. I pray that God keeps my focus on Him and I only look up when He says, "That's the one". I ask that God protects me against temptation and anything that would harm me in any way. I pray that everything I do glorifies Him and brings me closer to Him and my future husband. I pray that every day I'm prepared to be the women my husband deserves.

Of course, I always ask for the same things for my husband, but I try to focus on who I need to be for him when the time is right. Thinking about your one-day husband is so important (and fun). Thinking about what qualities he'll have, what his favorite song will be, and how you will meet is really exciting and so is praying for your future husband. But, remember that God's got him covered, focus on yourself and who your husband needs you to be right now and in the future. Because any relationship I want to be involved in is one with God right in the middle, even before I meet that man who's going to make me the happiest girl in the world.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
