I have been teaching Zumba for a month now, and it is hands down one of the best things I have ever done with my life. I’ve been a dancer my whole life, I’ve always been really into health and fitness, and I practically live my life in the gym. So teaching Zumba was a no brainer for me.
Whether you teach Zumba, Yoga, POUND, Spin, or any other variety of fitness classes, it’s the best job in the entire world and I think anyone who is a fitness instructor can agree.
You Can Spend Your Life Doing What You Love.
The biggest aspiration everyone should have for their career is to do something they love doing. There’s no point in doing something you hate. It’s miserable and that’s not the life anyone should lead.
As a fitness instructor you get to be excited to come into work every week and you get to be happy the entire time you’re there. It’s hard to not smile throughout the entire class because it’s just so much fun to be there and to be able to do what you love. That’s the most important thing about any job you have. If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, then what’s the point of even doing it?
You Have No Reason To Not Be Healthy.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of not wanting to work out and eat healthy. People set goals and make New Year’s resolutions and then make excuses to not follow through with it. But as a fitness instructor, it’s literally impossible to not be healthy.
Even if you don’t constantly hit the treadmill and lift weights, coming to teach a class several times a week for at least an hour is a big workout in itself. On top of that it’s imperative that you eat healthy at least part of the time and stay hydrated in order to put forward an extra level of energy during every class you teach.
You Have The Freedom To Run Your Class How YOU Want.
It’s your class and you do what you want. Of course there are certain guidelines for whatever you may teach, that’s the whole reason you get professionally certified. But other than that you can make it your own.
You have the freedom to make up whatever routine you want, you choose what your music will be, and you choose how your class will be run and no one can tell you that you’re doing everything wrong.
You Work With People Who Are Passionate About the Same Thing As You
If you’re working at a gym or studio you’re more than likely going to be surrounded by other instructors and managers who are all in this because they love fitness and health and everything that goes into this profession. Chances are gym manager loves everything about working out, your supervisor has a ton of degrees in physiology, and the gym staff lifts weights eight days a week.
They’re all doing this for the same reasons and have more or less the same goals as you do. It makes it easy to work as a team and have each other’s best interests at heart.
You Have The Opportunity To Change The Lives Of Everyone You Teach
When you go into your class, all eyes are on you. Everyone there looks up to you to learn the routines, to get them hyped up, and to answer all of their questions. At first it can be intimidating but it’s also rewarding.
Because of you, they smile once they start moving. They get excited when they hear their favorite song. They feel supported when you make eye contact with them and tell them they’re doing a great job. And they leave feeling good about themselves and the experience they just had. You could be responsible for turning their whole day around and inspiring them to be the best version of themselves. That is one of the best feelings in the world.
