Ah summer, finally! The weather is warmer (although we do live in Massachusetts, so the next thing you know, it’s snowing), cute summer clothes have been pulled out of the closets and some people just seem to be happier in the summer. Can’t blame them, I know that during the winter people hibernate and are buried under layers of clothing. Summer is a time for fun activities, less layers of clothing and stress free moods. If you find yourself dying from boredom or thinking of fun things to do, you can take a look at this list that I’ve come up with.
1. Work out
Now you don’t have to necessarily go to a gym, you can work out at home, in a park or even your backyard. Working out will help with your health and just puts you in a better mood. The more you work out, the lighter you’ll feel throughout the day.
2. Go to a concert
Whether it’s a local artist or someone more famous, go out and enjoy a night of music and good times.
3. Try new food places
Breakfast food or even dinner; try new places that may seem outside of your comfort zone. I’m not saying to go out to eat every night and spend a lot of money, but even little Mom and Popshops are great!
4. Read a book
Go outside, under some shade and read a damn book. You can put your phone down for a half hour. You’ll be fine, don’t worry. The Twitter drama isn’t going anywhere.
5. Take day trips
We are lucky enough to be close to places like New York, Maine, New Hampshire, etc. You don’t necessarily have to go to those places, you can even take a trip to Gloucester, Rockport, Newburyport or P-Town! Take friends and go!
6. Volunteer
You can volunteer at an animal shelter, your local community recreational center or you can even be a camp counselor! Anything that comes to mind, try it out.
7. Go to carnivals/festivals
Whether you want to travel to another town for their local carnivals or just go to the North End for a festival. It’s filled with good food, music and you never know who you’ll run into.
8. Write a bucket list
Think about things that you have never done but would love to do, write it and think about how you can work toward crossing off those items.
9. Pick up a new hobby
Try archery, painting, take a Zumba class, take a spinning class, go camping if you want, whatever you’ve seen before and wanted to try, go for it.
10. Have a water balloon fight
Pretty self explanatory.
11. Enjoy the stress free mood
Soak up the sun, relax and enjoy your summer before things get hectic and crazy once again.
Summer is a time to truly do whatever you want to do, take time for yourself or go and explore! Whatever you choose to do, have fun with it!
