What You Should Be Watching On (Someone Else's) Netflix

You need a way to procrastinate; a way to relax after a long shift. Watching television helps! Without further ado, here’s a list of shows to watch on someone else’s Netflix because you don’t have your own account; $8 is just too much to spend a month, let's be real.

"Chopped"

Four contestants try to make a meal out of a basket of random ingredients. There’s always one contestant with a sob story, one who wants to win to prove something to someone, and at least one person who’s Italian and will let you know it after every ingredient is announced. The contestants are running, yelling, accidentally bleeding all over their dish… It’s truly a hoot and a half to watch.

"Bob’s Burgers"

This show gets so much hate for no good reason. Everyone finds more than one character relatable and watching the same episode over and over never gets old. Hilarious without being offensive, the laughs you’ll get from watching "Bob's Burgers" will nearly make you puke or pee yourself. Maybe both!

"American Horror Story" ("AHS")

Netflix has three seasons (all different so you can watch them out of order) for you to binge-watch to prepare you Lady Gaga’s role on the upcoming season. You’ll sob, you’ll scream, you won’t be able to sleep; "AHS" is perfect! Who needs the comfort of feeling safe in bed when you can watch Dylan McDermott cry and masturbate onto a lamp?

"BoJack Horseman"

A drunken horse-man has-been actor makes this a weird one to say the least. There are people dating animals who look like people but they’re animals who act like people but the people don’t treat them like animals… It’s weird, man. You watch the show and you’re not sure how you feel about it but you assume you must like it because you let Netflix load to the next episode. "BoJack" is just one of those things.

"Storage Wars(: Texas)"

There’s "Storage Wars" and "Storage Wars: Texas," aren’t you lucky! Who cares if they place the objects in the lockers before shooting the show? Is it a shrunken human head in that vintage trunk? WHO KNOWS! There’s just something about "Storage Wars" that makes you want to watch.

"Pawn Stars"

Watching some big dudes at a pawn shop buy, trade, and sell historical items is just fascinating. You’ll learn so many random facts about history and pop culture and you don’t even have to sign up for a class. You’ll soon know everything there is to know about 16th-century Germanic beheading swords! Ooooooo.

"Hoarders"

Watching "Hoarders" will inspire you to actually do something with your life like get up and clean the kitchen. It’s intense to watch these people live in so much filth. But really, you’ll just feel bad for the cats sleeping in their own excrement.

"Intervention"

There’s not much to say about this show of substance-dependent young adults. It’s partially sad, but mostly these people are usually doing something crazy, and you find yourself thinking: “Wow, at least that isn’t me.” A true pick-me-up.

"Cupcake Wars"

There’s always someone with something stupid in their hair, so that’s promising. While you watch "Cupcake Wars" you’ll constantly find yourself screaming at the screen like you know better: “NO DON’T DO THAT, ALCOHOL IS FLAMMABLE.” Everyone knows watching someone else’s failure is entertainment in the U.S.A so "Cupcake Wars"(or any show from Food Network, really) is a great watch.

"Parks and Recreation"

Every scene from that show is a .gif on Tumblr already but you may as well watch the real deal. The characters are all so great, it's nearly impossible to pick a favorite. "Parks & Rec" is funny, and easily addicting. Finishing four seasons in three days? EASY. This is a show everyone should watch at least once.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
