As we journey on down the path of college life, there are moments where you realize that you might not be a kid anymore. You might get a little nostalgic and start looking at old pictures where you used to be “so cute." What happened? Well, I'm pretty sure you started to grow up.
Don't worry, it happens to everyone and a lot of the changes have been good things. If you didn't grow up, how would you know that there was any food better than Lunchables and pudding cups? Here are a few moments where you realize that you might be a big kid after all.
1. When you are old enough to decide to eat candy for dinner and no one stops you. Then you brag to your mom and she just rolls her eyes.
2. When you see cute little kids dressed up for a holiday and realize how long it has been since you last wore a cute little outfit where both the top and bottom were sold together and probably came with matching sunglasses.
3. But then you realize that you still wear leggings, aka “stretchy pants," so maybe your style hasn't changed that much.
4. When no one double-checks your suitcase to make sure you packed underwear and deodorant and not just stuffed animals and action figures. Thank goodness there is always a Target within a ten-mile radius to stock up on all the essentials you forgot.
5. When other people think you know what you're doing/talking about even when you are just as clueless as they are. Just smile and nod and try not to trip. Again.
6. When you're allowed to take road trips multiple states away with just your best friend, a cooler of snacks, and MapQuest directions that are probably right. What's an adventure without a few wrong turns, right?
7. When you may not always live together, but you love your family even more.
8. When someone calls you an adult non-sarcastically.
9. When you see just how young the high school kids on college tours look. So many letterman jackets and baby faces...
10. When a uniform doesn't have your last name and number on the back and you don't wear it with cleats. No worries, you still end up with Gatorade and a bag of Doritos to celebrate.
11. When you realize that you should appreciate some of the great moments that are happening in your life.
12. When you realize that even though life isn't as simple as it was when you were five, the goal is the same. The end goal is still to have fun and be with people you care about. Now go have ice cream for lunch to celebrate your maturity.
