Dating always plays a big role in an individual's college experience. There's no telling how many interesting, fun, relatable and attractive people you will run into during your four years at school, and there's a good chance you'll likely enter into a romantic relationship of some level with more than just one person during that time frame. As custom, it's usually the guy's job to make the first move if he's interested in a girl. Whether it's approaching her at the bar and buying her a drink or taking that small step and introducing yourself to her in a class you have together, the first move all comes down to us. Before we make that first move though, other than the first initial physical attraction, something has to lure us in to make all the effort in pursuing the girl, worth it. If you're a girl and wondering just exactly what every guy looks for and is attracted to in a female, look no further.

CONFIDENCE

Confidence is everything. It's sexy. The worst thing in the world is a girl that clearly has no confidence in herself. It' s a huge turnoff. Why would we be interested in a girl, if they don't even any have faith in themselves? Confident girls tend to know what they want and then go get it. They aren't hesitant and as a guy this is one of the first things we look for in a girl outside of just pure looks.

HIGH STANDARDS

Another big turnoff when it comes to the opposite sex is a girl that has no standards, the girls that go home with a different guy every weekend. Yes, as guys we probably won't say no to going home with an attractive girl even if we know she tends to get around but I guarantee you when it comes to that girl, we'll never have a genuine interest in pursuing anything after. There's no interest in dating from the guy's perspective when it comes to girls like that. When a girl has high standards, it makes her that much more appealing because we know we're going to have to put work into it. A girl with high standards means we might have to “chase" after the girl for a while, but that's the beauty of it. The Chase makes us that much more motivated and allows for actual feelings to develop. Every guy wants a girl that nobody else could get.

HER SMILE

A girl's smile can say a lot about her. It's an attractive quality. Girl's that never smile are girls we never want to be with.

SENSE OF HUMOR

If she can laugh at our jokes and can make us laugh, that's a positive indication. Humor and attraction can go hand to hand. Life is tough and sometimes we just need a good laugh. Lighthearted sarcasm is very much appreciated and if she's a little bit of a smarta**, well I personally find that very attractive.

ABILITY TO HOLD A CONVERSATION

I can't tell you how many times I've gone up to a girl at a party and within a minute realize she can't even hold a conversation. This is a basic social concept that everybody should understand, and someone that can't even hold his or hers own in a conversation just comes off as awkward. A girl that you can actually converse with means she's interesting and worth getting to know. Be engaging, otherwise how are guys suppose to know anything about you. Our true interest in a girl begins when we have a conversation with her. It gives us an insight into who they are, what they're into, and if we could even see ourselves hanging out with them.

OUTGOING

When a chick is outgoing, it means she's not afraid of what others think and that is definitely a likeable personality trait. An outgoing girl will be proactive when a guy approaches her and as previously harped upon, will more than likely be able to hold her own in a conversation. It's easy to learn about a girl if she's willing to put herself out there, it means there's potential for her to grow upon you. An outgoing girl also means she's not shy and has at least some level of confidence.

SHE STANDS OUT

In a world where it seems like almost every other girl out there has to Instagram her dinner or the drink she ordered at Starbucks, different is good. We interested in someone whose not always posting their feelings on Twitter, like 99 of the other girls on our timeline, girls who are unique will stand out from the crowd and capture our attention. If she studies hard during the week, but becomes the life of the party during the weekend, then we want to meet that girl. There are thousands of other girls on campus, we want to know what makes you special, don't be afraid to show us.

SHE'S SUCCESSFUL

Successful people surround themselves with other successful people. Guys want a girl by their side that they can be proud of and show off. When she's successful, it indicates that she's intelligent and hardworking. A girl with this trait is going to push us to be just as successful as they are and won't allow us to limit ourselves.

FUN

College is the funniest four years of our lives; hence we want to share it with someone that is in fact, fun to be around. Don't be boring. If a girl isn't afraid to let loose a little bit on the weekend, or have a few beers, that's awesome to us. Date Parties, Keeneland visits, or just casual get-togethers can be a great time for us to see if we actually enjoy spending time with you. Life is too short to not be fun. Don't let us down in that department. When we see a girl enjoying herself, it allows us to relax and have a good time as well. Fun is attractive.

SHE GETS ALONG WITH YOUR FRIENDS

In college, if we're going to date a girl she might as well get use to the idea that she'll kind of be dating our fraternity brothers and close friends as well. College is such a strong social atmosphere, that we're all usually hanging out in groups throughout the day at one point or another. A great indicator to us if she's worth all the work, is if she gets along with all our friends. If she's not friends with any of our fraternity brothers or can't hang out with all of us without being a drag, that's a bad sign and could force us to reconsider our interest level in her. Your friends should be her friends as well.

DOWN TO EARTH

Whether we admit to it or not, every guy wants a girl whom we can share our ambitions, hopes, fears, problems and achievements with. We want to be able to go to her if we're having a bad day, because it's an element of comfort to us. This can only happen if she's down to earth. We want a girl that's real and not just “posing for the picture." When she's down to earth, it means she's genuine, and genuine is the most underrated quality when it comes to addressing our interest in a girl. When a girl shows she can be down to earth, it allows us to be comfortable with being ourselves around them, which is a major deal. If you can accept us for whom we really are, then things can begin to move forward.

SHE KEEPS US ON THE EDGE

Every guy knows they found a special girl either when every time he's around her he gets a little nervous or by the fact she's always keeping us on our toes. It's exciting and an adrenaline rush. It's hard to find girls like that, so when we do, we tend to want to keep them around.

If a girl can check all these off, I'm pretty sure that makes her a catch.
