4 Things That Excite Me About My Internship
Wikipedia

In college there are things that we need to accomplish in order to graduate and to help us get a job. The grades and the things that we do on campus are very important but none maybe more important than internships. Internships are essentially training on the field for the jobs that we want to pursue after we graduate. They are great ways to gain experience in our respected fields but what could be more important than the experience we gain are the connections we may make with the people we work with. We all have heard it’s not about what you know, its about who you know. I am going to be interning this Fall at a sports radio station in Milwaukee known as 105.7 The Fan, I am very grateful for this opportunity and what I will learn. These are my four things I am looking most forward towards with my internship.

1. The connections to be made.

I know Milwaukee isn’t a city like New York or Chicago, but it still is a major market city for sports when it comes to coverage. Interning for a popular sports radio station to me means that the chances to make connections are almost endless. With covering teams like the Bucks, Brewers, and Packers I get excited for the things that I am going to see and the people that I am going to meet which. Hopefully sometime during this internship I meet my future employer or perhaps I have already met them.

2. The education I'll receive.

The point of a internship is to learn new things, while I have learned a lot about production in media for the last two years I am excited to finally be able to now work on what I have learned and test myself in the field. From communication, editing, and writing I am very excited to be expanding my craft in the world of sports reporting.

3. The people I may meet.

One thing about working in the sports world is you never know whom you are going to meet. I love to talk about sports, the thing I am excited for is the athletes I may meet and to see what their personalities are like. For all I know by Christmas time I could end up meeting Jabari Parker, Aaron Rodgers, maybe even John Cena.

4. The unknown.

What I am most excited for is not knowing what I am going to experience every day I walk into the station. I know I am going to make a few mistakes because that is inevitable, but I am going to do everything I can to avoid any mistakes so I can get the best experience I can to help me down the road when it comes time for me to finally start making a living for myself in my adult life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
