The cheesy, romanticized ideals of what a best friend relationship is, can seem way to cliche and Disney-esque. Usually, it's a lot more messy and complex than just that. So, if you are still unsure if you and your bestie really are best friend material, here are a few signs that you truly are.
1. Insults equal compliments.
Yelling at the top of your lungs that you "hate" each other's "ugly face" may sound like an insult to a random stranger, but to you and your best friend it really means you love each other. I call my best friend a Nimnit -- don't ask.

2. You lose IQ points together.
When with your best friend, sometimes even stupid things seem like great ideas! For instance, playing a drinking game using soda sounds like a great idea, until you both hurl from almost two liters of consumption in twenty minutes. If they help you clean up, you know it's a true friend.

3. Long distance sucks within minutes.
Even if you're barely five minutes onto the highway, it's like your best friend just knows you're suffering -- maybe because you've been texting dramatic goodbyes for the past hour. There will be an "I miss you, come back" text within the day.

4. You are like an old married couple.
You both bicker, all of your friends know and have witnessed you bicker, so have strangers. If you're in a play together and asked to argue, it's no longer acting. It is what you do. Don't worry though, fighting is only temporary, and usually is resolved within the hour. Although there will probably be another fight the next hour -- it's all out of love.

5. You share hobbies.
These hobbies include but aren't limited to: pigging out together, watching crappy movies and laughing at them, sleeping (cuddling), gossiping, stealing each other's clothes, walking around the mall. You also have probably done really random clubs like bowling or film club. However, you always share that one sacred hobby that no one else can encroach upon because it's only yours to share.

6. New languages.
You always understand each other, even if it's grunts or meows or mumbles. Somehow you just know what the other wants, maybe because it's usually food. Maybe you have a name for this uncommon language or maybe it's so rare and beautiful that no name could ever live up to it. Either way, you could be a professor in this language.

7. People mistake you for siblings.
Even if you don't look alike, somehow people think you're related. Maybe it's because you spend so much time together, or maybe it's because you can be a little meaner to your best friend than others. No matter what though, some stranger has come up to you, at least once and said "Are you sisters or brothers?"

8. People may also think you're dating.
You do hold hands a lot, cuddle, and you are always together. However, you are certainty not dating. I thought you just asked if we were sisters? Why would I be dating my sister?

9. You share emotions.
You get excited about the same things, like a new movie coming out or seeing a puppy! You get upset about the same things: "She said what!?." You even have the same enemies, although sometimes you don't know why, you don't even know them; their face just makes you a little angry.

10. Tacos.
When you are together you don't have to make sense. They always know what to say or do and even if they don't they at least make you smile. For example, as I write this article sitting across from my best friend, I asked what number ten should be. She said "tacos." So, tacos.

You and your best friend share a connection and a history. Every friendship is different, but what makes best friends so special is that they are always there for you "in sickness and in health, (in weirdness and normalcy), till death do you part."
