Valentine's Day has long been known as a Hallmark holiday. Nowadays, many couples choose not to celebrate it at all. I'm sure lots of people have been romantic dates that will make you cry tears of joy. However, this article is not about those people. Enjoy some V-Day stories that will make you cringe.
"My boyfriend and I went out to dinner with his parents. He didn't want to pay for a meal himself."
"My boyfriend and I broke up a few days before, and when I got flowers with no card on Valentine's Day, I assumed it was from him. When I called and thanked him, he said they weren't from him. My mom had sent them to me."
"In fourth grade, I thought it would be funny to write, 'Did you really think you would get a Valentine from me?' to one of my guy friends. He cried. Now he is super hot and plays college football."
"My girlfriend got flowers from a 'Secret Admirer' on Valentine's Day. When she asked if I was jealous, I said no. I didn't get her flowers; she already had some! Turns out she sent them to herself to see if I would get jealous."
"In the fifth grade, I was extremely confident this guy liked me back, so I got him one of those cheap teddy bears from CVS. He was so confused as to why I even got him a gift, and was not appreciative at all and I was humiliated. Flash forward to junior year, and my friend introduces us as if we hadn't met. This incident had definitely foreshadowed his present douchiness."
"I had previously been on one date with this guy. He calls me up on Valentine's Day and wanted me to come over. I was hanging out with some friends, so I ended up never going to his house that night. The next day, I go over so he'll stop bugging me. I get to his house, and there he is in a suit and the dinner he cooked YESTERDAY all laid out, as well as roses, chocolates, and a teddy bear. He told me February 15th could be our Valentine's Day from now on. Needless to say, we didn't go on any more dates."
"My boyfriend and I had are first date on Valentine's Day. We got lost on the way to the movie theater, harassed by a drunk guy and his GPS got stolen. I guess the worse the date, the better the relationship!"
Hopefully these stories have made you feel a little better if you have no intention of having Valentine's Day, or have made you realize that being single is sometimes the best option. In the end, maybe the best option is to head downtown with your best friends (or significant other) and drink till you love everyone.
