I have two moms. I also have a dad, but more prominently, I have two moms. They each have their own families, and one is technically more biologically my mom than the other, but I consider them equally my moms. They just so happen to be the best of friends.
It's easy to understand having a best friend now that you call your sister. You promise each other your children will be best friends, just like you promise each other you'll grow old together (along with significant others, but they usually take a back burner). My mom made those promises a while ago to her best friend, and there is no other half-family I would want to spend my holidays with.
I couldn't ask for a better family than the one I have now. My moms seem completely different, but in the end they really only want what's best for their children. Regardless of whether my endeavor is to spend the rest of my money on an education that might get me nowhere or on a shopping spree that could launch me to the cover of style magazines (highly unlikely), I have two incredibly successful women in my back corner rooting for me.
This is not to say that I don't love my father more than life itself, but there's something comforting about having your mom around and something extremely comforting knowing you have two of them. After growing up in a home where your older brother played hockey and lacrosse, trust me when I tell you it doesn't hurt to my mom and her best friend plus her daughters.
Basically, having two moms (especially when they are as bada$$ as my mom and her best friend are) rocks, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
