In light of the fact that Mother’s Day is here, it is only fair to write a tribute to all mothers across the world. Being a mother is one of life’s greatest joys for us women. They have put their lives on the line for us and we don’t thank them enough for it. We may have our disagreements and our quarrels, but at the end of the day, we love each other.
It is said that being a mother is one of hardest jobs to have. Most would give the world to their children and we don’t even see how much our parents give up for us. Your mother is the first person in this world who gives up her life for you; she takes care of you and feeds you well before she brings you into this world. She is the first connection you make when you are born and she will love you until the day she dies. Many of us don’t realize that our mothers put their lives on hold for us.
They take time off from work when we are born and have sleepless nights because we cry all night. They put food on the table, clothe us, and put a roof over our heads. When we get sick, the first thing we do is ask for our mothers. When we need advice, she will be there to give it and when we need to vent, she is there to listen. Our mothers are our best friends, even if the relationship between mother and child isn’t all that great.
As a mother, it is their job to protect us; just like it is the job of a lioness to protect her cubs. They hold our hands when we cross the road, but eventually have to let us spread our wings and fly. I have watched my mother protect both of her children and I have watched her let us spread our wings. I still remember the look on her face when it was time for my parents to leave after helping me move into my dorm. Even though she smiled and may have looked happy, her eyes said it all. She has sacrificed everything to bring me up right and made sure I had a good head on my shoulders. In that very moment when we said our goodbyes, she knew that she did her job in raising me and she was proud of the woman I have become.
I love my mother and I definitely don’t tell her that enough. She has done so much for me and I have never thanked her for all she has done. It is something that we all should do on a daily basis and not just because it is a day to celebrate them; thank our mothers and tell them how much we love them. Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to do so. So, from me to my mother and from me to all the mothers out there, thank you for everything.
