Trevor Siemian, one-year quarterback, and third stringer for the Denver Broncos actually has a shot to be the starter for the team. While they did just draft a quarterback in the first round (Paxton Lynch, Memphis), and they have a quarterback with AFC championship experience (Mark Sanchez, USC, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles), they are still thinking about going with him since he has seen everything a successful quarterback, and a Super Bowl winning quarterback (Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler) has seen. He is also familiar with the offense they run since he's been with the team for over a year. If you do not know who he is, this article will give you some familiarity with the team's possible starter.
Siemian played high school ball at Olympia High School in Orlando, Florida, where he was ranked 33rd overall as a quarterback in the pro-style offense. In his time at Olympia, he threw for 24 touchdowns, 2,494 yards, with a 67 percent completion rating. In his senior year, he was a first-team All-Central Florida pick and a first-team all-metro pick. He was also the team's MVP.
He played all four of his college seasons at Northwestern University, a Big-Ten school, and earned an 116.6 quarterback rating, 5,931 yards passing, 27 touchdowns, and a 58.9 percent completion rating. While Siemian was there, his team went to the Gator Bowl in 2012 and won 34-20. While they did win, Siemian did not start. Siemian never went to a bowl game while he started.
In the pros, he only played one play. In this play, he rushed for negative one yards. With this, it is clear that he is inexperienced when it comes to the NFL. Also, he didn't do well under pressure at Northwestern. If he was rushed, he usually threw an interception, or got sacked. However, that was then, and this is now. What do you think, Broncos fans? Do you want this guy as your starter?
