Top 11 Cartoons Of The 2000's

From "Spongebob" to "Teen Titans," here is what I miss the most about 2000's cartoons.

This is in no way an official ranking. This is an opinion piece by me, so it's going to be according to what I think that the best cartoons of this era were. It's all me, no one else. There are no other opinions or data to back this up whatsoever. So, obviously, this article pretty much reflects the opinions of our entire generation.

11. "Courage The Cowardly Dog"

"Oooh, I know I'm not gonna like this..."

It was a weird show, but it was so good. I was always half-terrified, half-intrigued while watching it. I specifically remember an episode when Courage had to save the entire town after everyone was hypnotized by a madman that made them addicted to eating flan. Courage was always there to save the day and there was something to learn from every episode. I guess that makes up for how creepy this show was.

10. "Kim Possible"

"What's the sitch?"

Kim Possible was my jam. She was a good role model for young kids, too. From a cheerleader during the day to a crime-fighting spy at night, she showed me how to multitask and prioritize like a pro. Also, Kim was always humble, which was great considering how many cool things she did. Thinking about it now, though, I turned out a lot more like Ron Stoppable than Kim. I eat as much as him and I'm often clueless, but I offset that by making way too many jokes. I'm pretty OK with that. I don't own a naked mole-rat, unfortunately. Do cats count?

9. "Teen Titans"

"Titans! Go!"

OK, so I guess that I was pretty into crime-fighting shows when I was a kid. However, the Teen Titans were super cool! It's not the new series that's on today, it's the good series that used to be on in the 2000's. This show was not only funny, but it was also well-written, exciting, and always left you wanting more. The character development was insane. All of the characters had so much more to them than we thought and along with all the laughs, they also gave us all of the feels. RIP to a great show.

8. "Codename: Kids Next Door"

"Kids Next Door, battle stations!"

I was absolutely obsessed with this show. Although it did instill in me a large fear of ever becoming a teenager, I loved it with all of my heart. These kids fought against any evil adults doing unjust things against kids. It was not only funny, but it was intense. You never knew which way an episode was going to go. Who was going to win? Was it the kids or the adults? Who would betray who? This show was constantly on my TV after coming home from school and I probably drove my family crazy with how much I watched it.

7. "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends"

"I'm a hot toe-picker."

Please tell me that you remember this show! "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" was a pivotal part of my childhood. I always wished that it was real! My favorite episode was when Blue discovered that he had a brother, Cheese, and they built a go-kart with flaming bunnies on the side because they kept arguing about whether the kart should have flames or bunnies, so they compromised. This show was a gem and I'll forever be grateful for its existence.

6. "The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius"

"Brain blast!"

Jimmy Neutron was the smartest kid with the coolest hair and watching his adventures every week was a blast. His best friends Sheen and Carl were some of the most hilarious secondary characters that I've ever seen on television. Carl's llama obsession and Sheen's constant worshiping of Ultra Lord and ridiculous train of thought made every episode even funnier. Special mention to Jimmy's dad, whose love of ducks and pie is something that I greatly appreciate.

5. "Phineas and Ferb"

"He's a semi-aquatic egg-laying mammal of action."

You may be thinking, "This show was totally not a 2000's show." However, with the power of Google, I discovered that this series did, in fact, begin in the 2000's and end in the the 2010's. So, take that. Phineas and Ferb showed us how to do summer right and for that we thank them.

4. "Avatar: The Last Airbender"

"If I try I fail, but if I don't, try I'm never going to get it."

"Avatar: The Last Airbender" was always on Nickelodeon, let's be real. Aang and his friends taught us so much about friendship, redemption, and having faith in yourself. While a movie was "attempted" in honor of the story, it was nowhere near as powerful as the series was.

3. "The Simpsons"

"Doh!"

This show is my childhood. I grew up watching Homer eat donuts, Marge being the worrisome mother that she is, Bart serving detentions, Lisa playing the sax, and Maggie sucking on her pacifier. This is my favorite TV family and I'm so grateful that they've been on the air for so long.

2. "The Fairly OddParents"

"Dinkleberg!"

I don't know who I would be without this show. My sister and I literally quote this show on a daily basis. Some personal favorite quotes of mine include:

"Here I come, Mr. Fairy Universe!"
"If you go in me, you die."
"Hi, I'm Timmy Turner, and I (in a voice that clearly isn't Timmy's) stole my mom's purse."

1. "Spongebob Squarepants"

"Is mayonnaise an instrument?"

Spongebob is my love, my life, and my salvation. So many of my friendships were formed just by making jokes from the series. You know, from all of the episodes before the movie came out. Whenever I'm feeling down, I just remember that this show exists and all is well.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
