I bought a Fitbit charge about two weeks ago, and I have to say it has been one of my best purchases.

If you don’t have a Fitbit, or are worried about the investment, take a look at this list I have compiled of my top four reasons I love my Fitbit.

Exercise… duh.

Okay, obviously this one is a given but no seriously I 100% believe that my Fitbit has encouraged me to exercise each and every day. From the challenges with friends (which I will touch on in a bit), or the awesome feeling that comes whenever your Fitbit buzzes when you reach your step goal for the day, I have felt so motivated to walk, and even take the stairs, throughout these past few weeks.

Challenges.

Much of my motivation has come from this aspect of my Fitbit. If you don’t know, when you own a Fitbit you can sync it to an app on your smartphone. When you do this, you can add friends from your Facebook and host daily, weekly, or even weekend step or goal challenges. When you are in a challenge, others can see your daily steps, cheer you on, and a leaderboard shows who is in what place. This is where my competitive side kicks in, and it is also where the motivation comes into play.

Sleep Tracker.

Why this may not be the most practical part of a Fitbit, this is one of my favorites. It was so crazy to see just how much I was restless throughout the night during the first night I slept with it on. Since that night, I have either tried to go to bed earlier, or I have adjusted the way I have been going to sleep. Being able to see what works and what doesn’t has greatly impacted my sleep and how well I have slept this past week.

Syncing with Cellphone.

So, I didn’t realize how awesome this would be until this past week. While working a conference this past week, I couldn’t always leave my phone ringer on. Also, much of the time my phone was in my bag I was carrying. However, I needed to be on standby in case my boss called and needed me to be somewhere or to do something. Every time he called, my Fitbit would vibrate and would tell me who was calling. That made it so much easier for me to decide whether it was worth my time digging my phone out of my bag.

So, if you have ever been on the fence about whether or not to purchase a Fitbit I whole-heartedly recommend it. While I have not seen any weight loss or fitness results yet, I really do believe that my Fitbit has already begun to benefit my overall health and I can not wait to see the results I achieve in the future.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
