There are few events that make the country stop and pay attention like the Super Bowl. Of course if your team is fortunate enough to be playing that day, you’ll clearly be watching…but no matter who’s playing, there are so many reasons the world looks forward to this day. Here are just a few:
1. The Food
Who can talk about the Super Bowl without talking about the Food? This is a day dedicated to chips, dips, chicken wings, chili, ribs, sliders etc. The incredible array of delectable goodies that people put out make this one of the most food friendly days of the year. And don’t even talk about the desserts! The internet has been filled with incredible Super Bowl party ideas for weeks. Forget about the diet for the day and dig in!
2. The Super Bowl Pools
People all over the country take part in the betting on this day. Whether you pay $2 or $2000 for a box, it certainly riles up the excitement. While sports are always about competition and winning, betting via one of these pools, helps you to feel a part of it all. With the Super Bowl pools, you don't have to pick a side just follow the numbers and hopefully you’ll be the recipient of some money at the end of the game.
3. The Ads
With Super Bowl ads costing millions, it’s a big decision for advertisers to spend the money to be in the big game. It's always interesting to see whose advertising and who’s ads will be creating the "buzz". Who can forget the little Darth Vader starting that car or the horse and puppy friendship in the Budweiser spots? Some people just come in to watch the commercials, and that’s totally understandable because in some people’s eyes, it’s the best part of the day. Whose ads will we be talking about this year?
4. The Halftime Show
It's always beyond exciting to see these performances. This year Lady Gaga is performing. What will that be like? Political statement or performance art? The Halftime shows of the past have left an incredible impression on the world. No one can ever forget the amazing shows by Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson, etc. And I know Gaga won't disappoint!
5. The Parties
The Super Bowl brings people together. People know that the fun of it isn’t all about watching the game, it’s about everyone taking a break from their lives and coming together to talk and catch up for a few hours. There is nothing better than getting together with good friends to celebrate this all American sport, even if you know nothing about that sport. Especially this year, with a country so divided politically, the game provides a welcome distraction and a break from all the political drama.
So this Sunday, remember that there is a great level of excitement brewing around the country. Regardless of whether the Falcons or the Patriots win, at the end of the day, you’ll have enjoyed some great memorable moments with your friends. All of these things add up to a pretty kickass party, its only too bad we have to wait another 365 days for the next one.
