I think most people are willing to admit that college students today are busier than ever before. Between classes, after school jobs, socializing, basic human needs, and looking for a job that your $50,000 piece of paper promised you, the best course of action is to bust out a color coded planner and schedule every minute of your day. That is not something I do.

There are plenty of things I have to do in a given day, but the thing that I am best at by far is putting off doing those things. While some people choose to resort to Netflix, I try to get a little more creative with my procrastination. Here are the five things that I do when I'm supposed to be doing something else ranked from least to most satisfying.

Honorable Mention: responding to all the text messages on my phone that I've accidentally ignored. Remind myself that I probably wouldn't have friends if I ever turned on my read receipts.

5. Plan the rest of your day.

so that after your finished being your least productive, you'll become your most productive. It makes sense if you don't think about it too hard.

4. Learn something completely unrelated to the subject you are studying.

Feel a sense of pride and accomplishment swell in your chest as you realize that while you do not know anything about the effects of reconstruction in the south, you have a pretty good chance of surviving the Hunger Games (step one: gain weight to keep your endurance up, step two: familiarize yourself with edible plants, step three: find water, step four: play the defense).

3. Work on becoming ambidextrous.

I'm right handed, so my left hand's penmanship vaguely resembles a monkey's first attempt. It's something to work on.

2. Decide which of your friends you would go on various reality television shows with.

I like to rank them based on athleticism and intelligence, then plan out what our strategies would be.

www.Petfinder.com: Find all the dogs in your area that you deserve to adopt after you finish this paper/study session/ assignment. Last week, I chose four pyrenees/golden retriever mixes. They are too good for this world, and I figure that eventually I will acquire the resources to be the dog mom they deserve. Soon I'll have a whole tribe of dogs.

While there are plenty of great opportunities for college students today, there are also plenty of great ways to procrastinate. We all know that doing the assignment itself is probably a better use of your time, but I personally do not see anything wrong with learning to write with your left hand and commanding your puppy army with your right.
