While the popular streaming site Netflix boasts a wide range of options for its audiences -- from shows and movies to documentaries, foreign films and Netflix originals -- there is no doubt that viewers soon develop a small range of their favorites. This, however, can end badly as Netflix does its monthly routine of taking in new movies and shows and throwing old ones out. Here are the top 15 movies and television shows that were "thrown out" and were, in my opinion, gone too soon.

15. "School of Rock"

Featuring the lovable Jack Black as faux music teacher Dewey Finn, this 2003 film follows the plights of Mr. Finn as he attempts to assemble a band from the kids in his music class. This funny yet heartwarming movie said goodbye to Netflix in September 2015.

14. "Top Gun"

Starring Tom Cruise as Maverick Mitchell, this 1986 film follows Naval aviator Maverick as he attends the Top Gun school at NAS Miramar. This classic said farewell to Netflix in January 2014.

13. "Greek"

Starring Scott Michael Foster from "Once Upon a Time" and Amber Stevens West from "22 Jump Street," this Greek-life-based ABC Family show ran for four seasons spanning from 2007 to 2011. While at times the show didn't sport the best representation of Greek life, we were still sad to see it expire from Netflix in January 2015.

12. "The Wolf of Wall Street"

Despite its obscene amount of colorful language, this movie covering the corrupted endeavors of stock broker Jordan Belfort, starring Academy Award winner (finally) Leonardo DiCaprio and the lovable Jonah Hill, was noticeably missed after its expiration from Netflix in September 2015.

11. "The Silence of the Lambs"

This 1991 horror-thriller starring Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins and Scott Glenn tells the enticing tale of the famed psychiatrist-turned cannibal Dr. Hannibal Lecter. This film expired from Netflix in December 2015.

10. "Billy Madison"

As one of the two early Adam Sandler movies that served as inspiration for the name of Sandler's production company, Happy Madison Productions, this film follows the plights of young heir Billy Madison as he repeats school in order to prove to his father that he is worthy of the family business. While many may dispute the success of some of Sandler's most recent endeavors, audiences were sad to see this film go in November 2015.

9. "Say Yes to the Dress"

Filmed in Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City, this TLC show introduces audiences to soon-to-be brides from across the country that come to the shop to purchase gowns for their special day. Strikingly addictive, this show has lasted 13 seasons and is still going. Unfortunately, the show said its goodbyes to Netflix in October 2014.

8. "Hannah Montana"

This popular Disney Channel show, starring none other than Miley Cyrus, followed the daily ups and downs of normal Miley-Stewart-turned-teen-pop-sensation Hannah Montana. The show lasted four seasons from 2006 to 2011 and was taken off Netflix in January 2015.

7. "Titanic"

Originally making over $658 million at the box office when it was released in 1997, this film, directed by James Cameron, tells the Romeo-and-Juliet-like tale of first class passenger Rose DeWitt Bukater, played by Kate Winslet, and third class passenger Jack Dawson, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, aboard the RMS Titanic. This successful film said its goodbyes to Netflix in August 2015.

6. "The Princess Diaries"

Arguably one of the most popular Disney Channel original movies, this film covers the roller-coaster-ride-of-a-life of Mia Thermopolis, played by Anne Hathaway, after being informed that she is actually Princess Mia of Genovia. Not to mention that her grandmother is Julie Andrews, otherwise known as Queen Clarisse Renaldo. This classic movie expired from Netflix in May 2015.

5. "Fried Green Tomatoes"

Based on the 1987 novel by Fannie Flagg, this 1991 film starring Cathy Bates follows the ups and downs of modern day Evelyn Couch, as well as the ups and downs of the past residents living near the Whistle Stop Cafe. This heartwarming and heartbreaking movie was removed from Netflix in July 2015.

4. "Dirty Dancing"

This iconic film from 1987 follows the story of Baby, played by Jennifer Grey, and her summer love Johnny, played by Patrick Swayze, as they eventually dance their way into the hearts of the old elitists at a summer resort. Despite its classic moments and its catchy songs, the film expired from Netflix in October 2015.

3. "Scooby-Doo"

Differing from its animated predecessors, this live-action film graced the screen in June 2002. Featuring stars such as Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar, the movie offered an interesting yet hilarious approach to the old mystery-solving gang. While most 90s kids can still quote most (or all) of this movie by heart, it was taken down from Netflix in February 2016.

2. "Doctor Who"

Following the Doctor, otherwise known as the "Time Lord," and his TARDIS, this classic BBC science fiction show has garnered a large following, as well as a large pool of past Doctors. Sadly, the 26-season show bid farewell to Netflix in February 2016.

1. "The Phantom of the Opera"

While Andrew Lloyd Weber's 2004 film version of "The Phantom of the Opera" successfully brought the phantom's "music of the night" to the big screen, it was the 25th anniversary stage adaptation that graced the Netflix screen. While the adaptation certainly provided "Phans" with an up-close-and-personal look at this stage production, it expired from Netflix in October 2015.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons.
