People always told me that college would be some of the best times of my life. I always thought they were a bunch of liars, because college has probably brought me the most stressful times in my life.
It’s the first time in my life I actually had to go through a full day of classes, make myself dinner, finish all my homework, and put myself to bed at a reasonable (never actually reasonable) hour all in one day. It took a while getting used to all this independence. However, when the stress wears off, I find myself surrounded by the people who actually prove to me that everyone was wrong. College itself may not be the best time of my life, but the people I do college with are.
As I look back on the semester, I specifically remember the little things. I never look back at my semester and think about that test I got an A on, or that paper I spent hours perfecting. I look back at the lip sync battles in my living room, and the game nights where competitiveness takes an all-new level, and the scary movie nights where we all piled on the couches with blankets pulled up to our noses.
They might be my biggest distractions, but I wouldn’t chose to put anything else over my homework. They make class a little bit better, dinner a little bit more fun to make, homework a little more easier to avoid, and sleep a little bit easier to put off for another hour. Everybody says home is where the heart is, and I believe my heart could be in two different places. My college friends are my home away from home, and my heart could not be anymore full.
While we look back on yet another semester of memories, I have God to thank for blessing me with these irreplaceable friendships that make leaving for break just a little bit harder.
