To My Old High School Teammates

To My Old High School Teammates,

Friends come and go, but teammates are forever. I want you guys to know how much I think about you all. Since leaving for college, I realize more and more how important you guys are to me. Here at school nobody knows you guys and all the incredible moments we had. The number of times I have told my roommate about that big final four-game or our weird cheers and rituals...she probably could pass a quiz about my softball career. The third baseman who saved my butt, the defensive player who I would yell at in games, but still loved me—she knows all about you guys. She knows about the time I tripped into third base and the time that I ran into the goal post. Know that even though I am gone, you guys are always on my mind. Our team pictures are everywhere in my room and in my heart.

It's weird seeing you guys play without me. My best times in high school were because of you guys, and it's sad to let those go. Even though I am hundreds of miles away I still care; I still check the websites to look at schedules, see how you guys rank up against future opponents. I make my parents give me updates and my grandmother send me newspaper articles. That is something that will never change.

Thank you for the awesome times in high school you guys gave me. Cherish it while you're still there, especially you seniors. These will be the stories you tell to your new friends at college, the stories of those late night practices or those crazy bus rides. Good luck this season and know that I will be at the first game when I get home. I will be cheering you on just like I was playing in the game myself.

Know that you guys are not forgotten and never will be. All of you are incredible and special to me. From wins to losses to breaking records, we did it by each other's sides and that is something that I will forever cherish. Nothing will be able to replace those times. I love you all and wanted you to know that. Now just make sure that even though that I am far away, you guys don’t forget about me!

Go out this season and do what we have always done. Kick some butt!!! Work hard, bond, HAVE FUN, and win me a state championship!!!
