Having teachers you love is great, but having a teacher who is truly one of your best friends is even better. You are able to go to them for help with homework, but also for advice with anything you're dealing with. I think everyone should be lucky enough to have that teacher to them, and for me, that would be my high school chemistry teacher. So, this letter is for you.
First off, thank you for everything. For the countless times I came into class crying, and you took time out of class to comfort me and help me, instead of simply ignoring me. For the infinite inside corny jokes that nobody else could ever understand. For sharing all your snacks with me, even though you didn't have to. For being there to answer my 12 am texts about college chemistry, because I have a test the next day. For not letting me get down on myself ever, and for never letting me settle for less than the best. For always checking up on me, and wanting to know how everything is going, as well as keeping me updated with your life. Lastly, thank you for not only being my teacher, but for being my friend.
Thank you also for sharing your love of chemistry with me. I have never liked science, ever. That was, until I came into your classroom. You made class so interesting and fun, and made me find my love for chemistry. There's nobody else I would rather have nerdy chemistry conversations with than you. Because of you, I have found my love for chemistry. Thank you for the three semesters I had with you filled with fun experiments. Also thanks for making me stay organized because without my notes from your class, I don't know how I would be passing college chemistry right now.
I can't wait to keep in touch even though I've graduated. Many teachers you lose touch with after graduation, but luckily I can still call you for anything. I can't wait for our sushi dates and catching up on life, and I'm even more excited for your wedding (eek!). I know that even though I may not be your student anymore, we will continue to have that friendship.
Finally, I am so lucky to have you in my life. Coming into your class, I thought you were awful and mean, but I realized that we are so much alike. I am so lucky I had you as my teacher, because without your class my senior year would have honestly sucked. Thank you for the many days filled with laughter, tears, and everything in between. Your class was honestly my favorite(don't tell my other teachers), and was what I looked forward to every single day. Thank you for allowing me to be myself, and for always encouraging me with your daily affirmations. You're one of the best teachers I've ever had, as well as a friend. I don't know where I'd be without you.
Love always,
your favorite student
