Dear Gamma Phi,
Looking back on last year, I can honestly say it was the most amazing year of my life. And it was all because of you! Cliché as it is, you gave me a home away from home. The people that I’ve been able to meet as a result of being a part of Greek life are truly people who have shaped my life for the better. You’ve not only given me sisters, but best friends and mentors. The girls that I have met in my chapter push me everyday to not only exceed in school, but experience every day to the fullest. There is only one group of girls who I would want to dance to "Lifestyle" on an elevated surface with and then head straight to the library to study for finals. All my life I’ve been the older sister in my family, and you were able to finally give me the older sisters I have always wanted. You gave me a Big and a Greek family who cares about me endlessly and will always be there for fam dinners and ice cream runs.
When I came to Michigan State I knew one person and I was counting down the days until Thanksgiving when I could go home. However, now I’m counting down the days until I can actually return home. Home to East Lansing to begin the endless coffee runs before chapter, all the laughs and memories to be made, frantically helping each other find formal dates, hopefully continuing the Greek Week winning streak, and Jimmy Johns at 3am never hurt anyone. Gamma Phi has given me so much that I will be forever grateful for. If the people weren’t amazing enough, being apart of Greek life allows you to be exposed to so many great philanthropy events. I can honestly say that I’ll always remember my first Relay For Life, to be apart of such a huge community gathered for one common goal was such a cool experience, and to be able to do it with my newly-found sisters made it that much cooler.
.
So thank you, Gamma Phi. Thank you for giving me a family when mine is miles and miles away. Thank you for making me completely obsessed with anything that has a crescent moon on it. Thank you for giving me an automatic support system through thick and thin. Thank you for giving me the best dance partners and wing women I could ever wish for. Thank you for allowing me to be apart of something that is bigger than myself. Thank you for giving me a group of people who will pick me up when I fall figuratively and literally. Thank you for giving me a pledge class who are basically forced to become your best friends and ultimately you love every single one of them. All my friends make fun of me because I’m constantly wearing something that has to do with my sorority, but I simply can’t help it because I’m just so proud to be apart of something so everlasting. So thank you Gamma Phi for giving me something to be so proud of. Thank you for giving me the best advice I could give someone looking for their place on campus; GO GREEK!
